I have an 09 DC TRD OR PreRunner. If I got the toytec ultimate lift, what would the con of setting it at 3.5"? I'm pretty sure it has a 3.5" setting...what is the downside of this?

    Thanks! :D

Alingment will probably not be within spec unless you buy aftermarket UCAs.
You have no CVs to mess with...so that is a non issue.

If you want additional lift- check out Prerunner lift spindles (Camburg and TC make them I think...) They are $$$ but it's 4 inches and then you can add coilovers to that.

Spindles will make my front tires stick out...not sure I like that. I was thinking the toytec 3" lift would be perfect for me. I will use aftermarket UCAs.

Just wondering what would be wrong with setting it to 3.5"?

    Thanks!

^^ alignment will be even more outta whack and the UCAs may not be able to get it back into spec

I say go with the spindles. I was in the same boat as you. By the time you buy uca's as well the price goes over what spindles are. Total chaos makes 3.5" spindles for like 1300. Camburg are 900 after our discount and those are 4".

A great setup in my opinion is to replace all four shocks with bilstein 5100's. That's not expensive. Then get whichever spindle you prefer. Then get a 3" lift leaf pack for the rear.

So the reason it's not advised to set the coilovers (in the toytec ultimate kit) to 3.5" is because I wouldn't be able to get the alignment within specs even with TC UCAs?

one of the reasons....also the ride will be rougher than shit too

you may be able to get it into spec w/ the TC UCAs and 3.5", but it'd be pushing it. Those UCAs will only allow for so much adjustment back into the picture

Ok...so setting it at 3.0" wouldn't be near as rough?

np...3" is bearable and able to be aligned into spec w/ UCAs.

I got 3" and tc uca's and love it. But o have fox coilovers. Toytecs may be a different story. I have never ran them but I have heard complaints of a rough ride at 3". Even with uca's. Of your looking at spending that much cash why not get a nicer setup or at least a better coilover.

Seriously? There's more prerunners with spindle lifts than coilover lifts????

i wouldnt go that far, but prerunners that want more than 3", but dont want a DB lift go for spindles. lift and lowering spindles have a market for a reason. they can do what they need to and still retain the stock suspension specs. it's a good way to go keep everything factory (aside from the lift/lowering). the cost is the kicker...gotta take it all in stride though. if there were the same option for 4x4 i'd have done it.

As these guys have already gave you reasons why 3.5" is difficult to put together (3" seems to be the standard)

Basically.... the amount of $$ you'll spend trying to make 3.5" work (and it might not even be 'right') is probably the same amount of money you could spend on one of those 4" or 6" lift kits I mentioned earlier - and know it'll work because those kits have been around a long time.
