I didn't have a 10 speed but other then the amount of door rattles i had i loved my 17 f150 2.7eb with the 6r80 till the flood took it. It was huge though and not having port injection didn't sit right. so i thought I'd go with toyota which had both and thought I'd be getting something higher quality. I ended up with a friday truck that im looking to unload fairly soon.

Im stoked about the ranger but im apprehensive about it being "new".

Good points. However, the ra60 is 1:1 in 5th gear so 6th is the only overdrive technically, I think it would’ve been better if 4th was 1:1 and 5 and 6 were overdrives but I honestly don’t have a clue if there’s a reason for that.

For the f150, It does shift smooth, even when cold there’s not much jerkiness. I can’t speak to durability cuz I’ve never driven one for long periods or with high miles.

I'm not sure about that. In that one testing video that I posted, if they dropped all that weight from the crane into the Taco's, bed, I don't think the bed nor its c-channel frame could handle it.

He means it was "built on a friday afternoon" meaning the QC is very poor and there's a bunch of issues with it... the employees just wanted to go home lol.

A lot of our trucks are "friday trucks"

Window leaks, rattles, radios going in and out, window trim rattles, wrong fenders, mismatching fenders, wrong decals, etc, etc, etc.

I think the Ranger coming to the segment will be good. Not only because I was previously a Ford guy who drove a ranger, but because it might make Toyota up the game a tad, perhaps closer evaluate the failed drivetrain on this thing. Especially if Ford brings out this Raptor Ranger everyone keeps talking about, and was seen in Australia. It seems ford is testing the platform for this truck in Australia before "americanizing" it for the states. I expect, just like toyota did, that the first year will just be the basic models/FX4 packages and the next year or two, 2020/2021 will bring the "raptor Ranger" to the stage, which will hopefully crush the TRD Pro, as the pro is lacking when it comes to actually being an offroad package vs just aesthetics.

the test videos of the supposed Raptor Ranger in Australia were freaking sweet... At this point I don't think I'd run out and get a ranger immediately, but if that R/R package drops, it's a done deal. I WILL be test driving one when the drop the initial builds though... I am very curious how the engine is going to feel.

I see some Ridgeline similarities, especially in the swept-back look of the front corners.

Yeah, I'm willing to overlook a few aesthetic things to get what is basically a heavy duty WRX STI truck.

I'd prefer that ranger front-end to the Hilux personally though... Still not buying a Ford anytime soon though :)

Ford is recycling their truck. Not sure if it can even be called new.

2.3L in the Explorer with a 6 speed is getting 27mpg highway. It weighs about the same as our 4x4 DCSB trucks so putting that 2.3 mated to a 10 speed in a similar weight truck...I'm betting it does even better than that. Maybe 28-29. That would be pretty huge. And drivability of a twin scroll turbo to boot, making peak torque WAY lower than our trucks...this is something to consider.

    Resale though...that's a problem.

I would kill for a 10 speed with upper limit shifting when I tow my trailer. That would be greatt

Might be a slight exaggeration, but the Focus RS with an aggressive sport tune gets 26. Can you imagine the Ranger rolling into the market out classing the Tacoma by 100 hp and 100 ft/lbs? EMBARRASSING

    Horsepower: 350 hp
    Curb weight: 3,434 lbs
    Engine: 2.3 L 4-cylinder
    MPG: 19 city / 26 highway
    Torque: 350 lb-ft
