Had 4.88s installed on Friday. 349 miles after leaving, this is where I'm at...
I topped off in Raleigh before leaving. There has been a stiff headwind, Im on 35s, manual transmission, and fully armored with a RTT sticking up about 8" above the cab. First fuel stop was 202 miles down the road and I added 16 gallons. My gas mileage on the highway is no better than it was on the stock gears (hopefully due to the wind today). In town, it's amazing. Getting 19mpgs at 45mph. The truck definitely is not working as hard to maintain 75mph and the engine load is down around 52% with the 4.88s from 78% on stock gears per the Torque app.

I am going to flash the OVTune back to 1.02c in the morning just to see how it does. The fuel economy on that tune seemed better than 1.03.

It is highly.possible that I completely screwed up entering info into my hypertech calibrator also.

There's no lineup, but every truck that enters this dark realm helps us all. We need numbers to be more relevant lol

Having said this, you WILL like what even the 04B10 1.03 test tune does for your truck.

This actually sounds pretty good (MPG wise) I think the headwind has got to be the primary factor in your case for HWY MPG...especially with the RTT sitting 8 inches above your cab...that's pretty much like a sail trying to pull you the other way.

19 MPG around town is awesome....I'm an AT, completely stock and I'm getting 14-15 around town on the stock tune and 1.02c 87. :(

Was definitely the headwinds last night. Was averaging 15 at 80mph and 2700 RPM this morning.

I will miss it. My wife wanted a bigger camper then the Tacoma would pull. I felt bad flashing it back stock. Maybe it will show up on the forum again sometime.

Interesting...my brother got one of them...lifted big tyres.

They used to say you didn't buy a dodge diesel for the truck, you bought it for the engine. Same with the Renault, I mean Nissan?

Seriously, I thought the whole point of separate manual and auto threads was to clean things up and make it easier to find the info pertinent to your needs, but with the alpha thread still being active it's causing info to just be spread out and more difficult to find than when we just had one thread. Please lock that thing down!

I hope I don't have issues. I take good care of my stuff. I will miss this forum. It's the best. The admins do a good job. The people over at the other forums are not as cool.

Well, I'm back to 87. After two tanks of 92, I ended up loosing 1mpg. One tank was over the holiday where I was doing short drives around town, but the normal commute was about the same loss in the second tank. I also ended up feeling that while I didn't have the torque hole / bump after 3,500rpm, that it seems to accelerate slower in general when I was deep in the throttle. It was smoother compared to before, but not as snappy. I'm halfway through the first tank of 87 and my MPGs are back up and the Taco is feeling more responsive again. I'm continuing to see what happens.

So long, neighbor! Those are nice trucks - and really strategic to use your wife's needs for a bigger camper to trigger the necessity to upgrade to a new truck :) Enjoy the new rig! I'd probably be in a full-size if not for garage space both home and work. Cheers!

I was up around 3,200ft altitude yesterday. It looks like either it wasn't high enough to get any compensation for the throttle or it compensates for altitude somehow else:
    Screenshot_20180114-113936.jpg

The throttle did close a bit further, but still only opened to about 63%.

Interesting.. so you'd expect greater opening angles to compensate for lower pressure?

On my end, I've been playing with Fusion and logging some PIDs WRT DFCO. The problem is, no matter how I configure the software, the best update frequency is about once every two seconds. I've set the logging trigger to fixed time intervals instead of GPS or PID frames, but all that does is give me a shitload of data that's exactly the same. I was attempting to use multiple graphs with the same time base to illustrate what was happening when you lift of the throttle, but because of the crappy "2 second rule", some transitions were offset from each other or missing entirely. TBH, i may be monitoring too many PIDS (14). I was gonna try reducing that to about 5 and see if it makes a difference:

    - Accel posn
    - Throttle Posn
    - RPM
    - Injector vol
    - Intake VVT target angle

Yes. I was expecting bigger at WOT and maybe lower when coasting to maintain the same coasting deceleration? I live at about 400ft and drive at sea level daily.

On Torque, I see that green lights near the center of the needles flash when it updates. It seems to be between 1sec to 2sec depending on the gauge. I think Torque says that it can be altered but could cause problems. They all update at different rates and different times. Fun!

I am not sure what the limiting factor is there, the OBD device, the port protocols, or the bluetooth bandwidth?

I do quick scans of the gauges while driving. Logging would be better, but I haven't dug deep enough for that. The current and max / mins usually show me what I want to see. I will try to get a log of a full pull and coast, if I can.

I think that plotting the data might give us a peak at what is going on even if everything doesn't line up perfectly. Once it is figured out, seeing multiple tries is easy.

Havent been on the thread in awhile due to being so busy with work. Got my tune finally loaded on the truck, 1.03, and it is so far really great. I love the low end torque and rev matching is much easier now. Does anyone know when the update will be dropped? Does it just come in email or do we need to request it?
