So I’ve always had a shudder on acceleration. Not enough to piss me off but slightly annoying. I can get a one piece shaft brand new with spicer joints for $375. Anyone know if this is a good price? I know ground clearance will be limited but I don’t think enough to make a difference.

Actually no it’s not. The last two I got I got for free so I was really going out on a limb taxing my driveshaft budget lol

 

The hook was still attached to Greg's truck. But the end that broke at/near your winch fairlead ended up under his truck. There is potential energy within a synthetic cable. However I doubt that there was enough to punch through even a piece of cardboard.
Steel cables have way more potential energy in them, and chains even more so. Ever see a chain break while being tensioned with a chain binder? Scared the shit out of me when it happened to me. I would never ever use a chain for any type of recovery situation.

 

What rear leaves are you running?
I will go out on a limb and take a guess that the take off shudder is caused by a smallish amount of axle wrap, causing the rearmost two u-joints to have different angularity. This is a common issue in many trucks with soft rear springs. Had the same issue with my dually actually. Think I finally replaced a u joint after 250k miles.

Just a deaver single AAL but had the same issue stock.

One can accidentally put the carrier bearing on upside down and it will create that issue

I had shudders and vibes all over. I first did the Ford Poly center bearing mod. It helped some. I didn’t like the way it had to be spaced down. I knows those long, spaced, bolts were a recipe for disaster on the trail.

The one piece solved all vibes up to 85-ish MPH. They go away again at 95-ish. Since I don’t drive 85 MPH, I don’t care. I know, because I drove that fast to test it out.

Now, my truck, as you know, is on 35s and 4.56s. Results may vary.

 

Since I got the truck over a year ago. But no I never took the shaft out. And yes I’m afraid to throw he 1 piece in and be chasing other issues.
