Can any one help please... have an 09 trd dcsb with the v6 and 6 speed manual transmission approx 115k miles. About 6 months ago took to service shop for clunk at low speeds on acceleration and up hill ( with rear driveshaft under load) and was told it was due to no grease in ujoints ( I had been neglecting since I didn't have access to a shop and lift. Just within the last 3 or 4 days with sub 30°F weather there is a metallic sound ( metal shim on metal sound) in any gear while accelerating. There's no signs of leaks and I'm lost as to what it could be. Any help would be appreciated.

The universal joints that you have neglected for so long have come home to roost. You will or should have all three universal joints replaced in the rear drive shaft.

You don't need a shop and a lift to grease the universal joints. Lay on the ground and crawl under with a grease gun OR take it to a shop and pay them to do it when you have the oil changed.

'21 Nothing so far, I just bought the friggin thing!! '09 Silver SR5 Prerunner DCSB (sold) Dick Cepek rims, 33” Cooper AT 3’s, 24 in light bar, custom-made hitch step, sport headlights (on SR5 taco), Gator tonneau cover (looking for Best Top soft camper shell), real tree seat covers, weather tech floor liners, 6’ bed mat cut to 5’ (because the 6’ ones were the only ones available, alpine touch screen head unit, alpine 1100w amp powering 2 10” subs, upgraded door speakers (forgotten the brand), Magnaflow exhaust
Is it kinda like a metal whining noise? If so it could be that your transmission is low on fluid and all you will need to do is add more and it will be fixed. However, it's also probably got something to do with the u joints

Failing /dry U- joints will usually clunk when going from forward to reverse and squeak noticeably at low speeds. Caution- If you notice a vibrating interior rear view mirror along with these other symptoms do not delay in replacing the bad joint or joints. This happened on my '71 Ford F250 Highboy and within a mile the front u-joint on the rear driveshaft let loose at a stop light. I had to remove the shaft on the side of the road and drive home on the front axel in 4 wheel drive.

I know I don't NEED a shop to do maintenance... I just got very spoiled. I hate that it takes a good part of the day to change all the fluids, or brakes, rotate tires, etc compared to just putting it on the lift and all is done in an hour or 2. I will grease the u-joints asap and hopefully that solves the issue or gives me a bit more time... thanks for the responses.

If they get better after greasing them I would get all three replaced as soon as possible as a drive shaft coming loose at highway speeds is not fun, can do lots more damage to your truck and cause a wreck which could cause injuries to people.

Agreed. My joints have greaseable zirk fittings on them which astound the people at toyota dealer, non dealership repair tech i use, and all parts places ive inquired about u joints( I've never changed or nodded them and am only owner)... on that note is there any particular brand you would recommend such as oem, or a specific aftermarket brand that has proven good?
