    Totally get it man.

And I guarantee I'll be freaking out with OCD on my flexplate when I do my swap.

You don't even need to remove it - I just replaced my rear main seal at the same time since it was right there. It wasn't leaking or anything, in fact it only had 92,285 original miles on it. Just preventative maintenance is all.

I must have dropped the flexplate when it was off the truck or something, or maybe it was already cracked. Who knows.

By far the hardest part of the swap is aligning the bellhousing to the engine and making sure the torque converter is properly seated. Took me almost three hours WITH a fully adjustable transmission jack mind you to line it up.

Hey that's my life motto. I break things while trying to fix things a lot, but that's what happens when you work on old vehicles.

Ya... I was planning on replacing the rear main seal while I was in there. Now (due to your experience)... I wont be touching it unless it's gushing oil.

My E320 has a leaking rear main seal. Leaks almost a quart a month, I was considering doing it until now. Hell no. Especially on a German car.

I learn a lot through trial and error. Y'all really think I had a goddamn clue on how to remove a transmission? I just followed the FSM.

I started my 4WD conversion when I was 17. If I can do it anyone damn well can do it.

I would replace it anyway, especially with that mileage. It's about $750-$1000 to R&I a transmission at a shop. Trust me once you remove a transmission you wouldn't want to do it again.

    You weren't kidding. It's a 2001-2004 Double Cab PreRunner.

My Cobra overheated like crazy one day out of no where and I wasn't paying attention to the gauge so the car shut off. I could not figure out what caused it, ended up pulling the radiator and flushing it and flushing the block out. Ended up burning 3 of the 5.5 quarts of oil and I didn't have a clue and I drove it like 30 miles... I learn a lot as well through trial and error, like cracking a valve cover :anonymous:

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

2 Weatherguard side boxes for a hundred bucks... couldn't pass it up. Nice place to keep things secure. I have some ideas. Starting with cleaning them up, and hosing them down with some bedliner spray.
