Anyone else have this? If so, do you know what it means, if anything at all? I’m at an utter loss. Right behind the smaller window on my 98.

I have it. Came stock on my truck from the Fremont Toyota in 1997.

I also have carbon fiber tailgate badges, I haven't seen another first gen with those.

I have a '98 too.

 

That's a neat font. Note the short "stem" on the Y.

Yeah no kidding. If I'm honest I didn't notice it was carbon fiber until you mentioned you had it, that's when I shined a light on it and saw it. I gotta double check but I'm pretty sure the truck was first bought out of Louisiana way back when. It'd be interesting to find out if there is a package that our trucks have, gotta do some more research,

 

So far you and I are the only people I've seen that have had the carbon fiber tailgate emblems. I always thought they were aftermarket or something the dealer applied.

Fremont Toyota. They built the truck at NUMMI a whole 3 miles away from the dealership, I'm pretty sure they drove it straight off the assembly line into the dealer's lot.

 

Interesting. My truck was first sold in Lousiana, so that might not be the connection.

I have (had) a PreRunner. Now it's a 4WD PreRunner after I finished converting it. Gotta buy the Rav4 4WD to complete the look.

 

Never saw those on a pickup. Saw them on supras and celicas while stationed in Japan. Over there i was told its a factory motified performance package that is a special order. But that was in Japan on there sports cars. And the celica gtr4 i think is an awsome sports car.

I wanna make mine 4wd someday too. I’ll definitely take a pic in the morning and put it up on this thread, they’re carbon fiber-esque but I’m not sure it’s quite as defined as yours. Might just be because I was looking at it without the sun shining on it.

 

My truck is actually in the transmission swap right now, sometime during the conversion process my flexplate cracked and exploded in the bellhousing.

After the parts cost and $1.3k labor to fix the flexplate, it's still cheaper than if I sold this truck and bought a 4x4. By a couple thousand dollars.
