Starter noise?

    Hey, my starter is making a bad noise when I start the engine. Once the engine fires it makes a sort of grating noise. My guess is that it's not retracting as quick as it should. I need to do something quick so I don't trash my flywheel. If I pull the starter off is there something I could clean and/or grease so that it fixes the problem? Starter is on a 2000 pre-runner

    BONE STOCK! lol
    You can try to clean up the solenoid, But it sounds like the starter is going south, check out the local parts store, price might not be that bad to just replace
