There was at least 3" on the ground this morning. A lot will melt off today, get rained on this evening, freeze, then more snow again on it.

It took me 50 minutes to get to work today. Normal commute is 30, tops. :frusty:

    Doing this again.

Serious. Give me some options on the lockers and bumpers. Keep the bumper under $1500 if possible.

Not sure about the lockers but at the risk of being called a fanboy....

Seriously take a look into Brute Force Fab as far as the bumper is concerned.

The quality of his builds are unreal. And at an excellent price point

    Snow driving update...

Used 4hi partially on the way home yesterday, not above 40mph. No odd sounds or issues.
This morning, I have to use it again from the house to the bridge into Ohio. Before I even engage 4hi to back out the driveway, I try it in 2hi. I hear something very odd "under my feet". A popping/grinding/scraping sound. Wheel is straight. I spin the tires obviously because snow and slight incline of the driveway. Go to 4hi.
Works great. Still have that odd sound though. After disengagement, still there too. Seems that it goes away at higher than 35mph, not sure really. No real rhyme or reason when the wheel is turned or not that the sound happens.
Took a quick peek under there when I got into the lot here at work and didn't see anything that looked too out of place. I'll go out for my 9:30 not-gon-choke-a-bitch-smoke-break and take a longer peek.

    :(

Unless you're planning on becoming a human battering ram, just about all the bumpers provide FAR more damage protection than a stock bumper. Aluminum or hybrid bumpers either one will save a LOT of weight that just doesn't need to be there. The secret to plate bumpers is their ability to increase clearance more so than any other purpose. Think in these terms....Save a couple hundred lbs off the front end and make your suspension work. Add weight and you'll be back to swapping springs, etc, I've heard all the anecdotal comments about how strong steel is, etc,....I can also furnish you with hundreds of references with aluminum that have't bent anything.

    Like my Pelfreybilt!

It all hinges on my return's amount. If it's enough, I get a bumper and winch, or just a bumper. The rest will be invested/saved.
If it's smaller than I'd like, par for the course, I'll make a fatter than normal payment on both my truck and house for the month.

And....Lockers are the best money you can spend on a 4wd if you actually plan on off roading the truck.

I checked out a couple vendors yesterday. Avg difference from steel to aluminum is in the 30-50lb range. Better weight saving ratio in a synthetic cable over steel for the winch.

Spinner Knob to some. I go back far enough it was called a "Necker Knob".

Do BOTH. I did. Saved 60+lbs on bumper, 42 lbs on cable/syn. I lost less than 1/2" of front lift with that AND skids/sliders.

If the return is enough and there's a good enough sale at tax time, I may.
The aluminum bumper is the nut cracker. If I ever crack it or need to trim it for bigger tars, where the hell am I going to find somewhere to weld aluminum?! We definitely don't do that here at work, any more.
