So my father-in-law, who passed away in July, suddenly has a new Facebook account and is sending super right-Wing political shit to a whole bunch of people (he was a moderate Democrat) over messenger. We closed his old one, yet “he’s” back trying to reconnect to us. Also getting some wonky emails tertiary to some of his old accounts. Getting links to surveys, militias, and what look like hate groups. Fortunately Gmail blocks most of it, but the stuff in the spam folder is brutal.

We’ve got a ticket in to the police/FBI on this, because we’re pretty sure someone is using (or at least trying to use) his identity. The first thing we did when he passed was close all his old bank accounts and move the money into a new one for my mother-in-law, so they can’t touch that. Trying to make sure that they can’t do anything else with his name.

    Damn asshat fucktards.

    man that is some shit.

i had 5 years of unpaid federal taxes after 2008's fallout. then i got to a point of paying it all back to the IRS in cash. it was brutally painful and extremely expensive, and was written out in 5 crazy ass checks.

at that time, little did i know, my identity had been stolen.

now, 2-3 years after paying back all those taxes and using most of my life savings to do it, i'm getting severe warnings in multiple from the IRS to pay back my taxes or they're coming for my assets.

why? because when my identity was stolen, apparently it lead to multiple records at the IRS for me, at least two, maybe more.

i paid 5 years of taxes back to the IRS on one of me. but there are more of me, or so they're telling me. anyone who has dealt with info stored in IRS's decrepit database system knows what i'm talking about.

yep, i'm lawyering up for this one. meanwhile 3-5 letters per day from the IRS saying they're coming for my house, etc., and all my taxes are fully paid, credit is fine, and i run no debt. my life looks fucking awesome on paper.

We all have credit monitoring, but so far no financial accounts have been opened. There aren’t any in his name anymore, so any thieves can’t steal from his accounts.
    That sucks.

My brother had taxes filed in his name two years ago from details stolen by an identity thief. The tap dance he has to go through now to file is nuts, and he can’t e-file. You definitely need to lawyer up, because if you’re paid up the IRS shouldn’t have you in collection.

My BIL still has not paid his taxes from 2016, And he now has one week left to get it paid or the IRS is headed his way.

Whoever is the executor of the estate can send a copy of the death certificate and their letter of office when they report the issue.

Illinois is mega screwed up and all kinds of hustlers stepped up stating he owed them money. Made every one of them meet me in front a judge to prove it. Two actually turned up and when they were found out the other side of the courthouse had interest in them. Scammers, hustlers, and shitbags come out he woodwork to rob graves on anything of value they can think of.

Had a chick turn up at his house with the fakest looking bill of sale for his car claiming that the deal was that she gets it after his death. Since I bought him the car and rego’d it in my name I just laughed in her face, took her picture, the picture of the plate on the car she turned up in and the turd driving it, grabbed the “legal document” and called the Sherrif.

I played dumb when one of his close friends offered to buy his gun collection at under 15% of its last appraised value. Father had willed it all to my son as we agreed but it blew me away that a guy that we had treated like family would so greedily crap on their friendship to try and come up.

I’ll stop, but that stuff enraged me and makes me want to stuff their heads into my wood splitter.

I think the biggest WTF here is the "Warning: Graphic content!" Label on this video.

There was absolutely nothing graphic about that. It's the call of the wild people. Nature. For any other species on this planet, life is hard, and sometimes you lose.

There really are no "safe spaces" out there, it's something we (the royal we) created. Get a rain coat, a helmet and a straw and suck it up, life can be tough.
