Do you have the “Toyota” badging still on there? If so, is it carbon fiber looking too?

 

Yup we have the same badging. I have to find a pic of the Toyota logo.

What about your trim level one?

 

It's after market, nothing special.

 

That's what my original thought was, but not being able to find it online, I decided to make a thread. However, with @BartMaster1234 saying that his truck has the same badging and he bought it new and never put it on there himself, I don't know what to think.

 

I'll have to double check but I believe it's the same.

 

That's what I thought too but we have the same B pillar badging. That makes me think it was a dealer option. I haven't seen the same B pillar badging and the carbon fiber tailgate emblems until now. We also both have '98 trucks.

 

Perhaps something to do with the NUMMI factory? I honestly know nothing about it but maybe they shipped some tacos to southern Louisiana in '98.

Seems like the three of us have identical badging, but the trucks are from completely different areas. Mine is an original Tennessee truck

Mine's from Musson Patout Toyota, New Iberia LA, and bartmaster mentioned his is from Fremont, so that most likely isn't the connection.

 

We all have 1998 model year trucks. Could that be it?

 

Gotta be part of it at least, we gotta see if any other '98s have it. We also all have PreRunners so that's most likely another piece of the puzzle.

 

That is so weird. All '98 PreRunners. You have the v6 though, me and @jgill21 has the 2.7l

Its like Camry's with gold badging/door handles/emblems and Miatas with chrome wheels.

Dealer add on's for 'special edition' profit.

Today's example would be buying your new Tacoma from the dealer with a dime store lift, tarted up black wheels and mud tires.

My Diet Coke says you'll never find that the factory produced such a trim.

But hey, it is different, and does look better than the gold plated badging.
