he looked my vin up and told me my frame was never done and that that recall had expired. is this true or are they

Has anyone from saskatchewan successfully had there frame replaced? I have an 05 access cab and just climbed under it to change a starter and noticed golf ball size holes by the cats .
Pretty bummed out because I got rid of my 01 6 months ago due to a rusty frame and now this.

Update: Called Toyota Canada and they could not do anything for me since the Canadian campaign ended last year. They recommended I go www.toyotaframesettlement.com which was pointless since the date to submit a claim has passed.

Toyota USA simply pushed it back onto Toyota Canada and said it was up to them to accept my case. The other option they gave me was to register the truck in the states and get the work done down there since the LMC was valid for the US.

I talked to three local dealers and they all said my LMC was only valid in the US and the Canadian campaign was over.

Putzcommander and Jon G was there anything special you had to do to get them to push through the campaign? Do you guys have a long history with your dealers?

So I live in Newfoundland Canada I bought the Tacoma two months ago privet sale. I was told there was a recall for the rear leaf springs and I had to bring it into my local dealer. At this time they inspected the frame on my new to me 2007 crew cab Tacoma and they told me it failed and pictures were taken and sent to Toyota Canada. In order to do the work they completed a mvi and came back with a list of things I needed to replace before I could drop it off to get the new frame. Tie rod end and cv axel few other small things ( nothing major, and no surprises )

I have zero ties to this dealer as In I buy my trucks well used, buy all my parts at independent local parts store. I think I have spent a total of $200 at this Toyota dealer (mvi & small odds and ends)

And so far they have treated me good. If I am ever in the position to be able to afford a new off the lot truck I would have no issues going to Toyota plaza with the service I have already received.

So just a thought this is not a RECALL

it is a warranty enhancement program Zh6

If you call asking for a RECALL the person on the phone will say there is no recall. I would ask about the zh6 document and ask if your truck is included it this enhancement program.

Remember the person on the phone is probably working in a call center

If you feed them the information you might get the answer you want

Thanks for that Jon G, I made a point to refer to it as the limited service campaign (LMC). But the warranty enhancement program sounds interesting. I will pursue that route, though since the wording is the same "customer believes their vehicle has been operated in cold climate regions of the United States" I will likely get the run around about not valid in Canada.

Some googling didn't show a WEP Zh6 for Canada? Can someone toss a link if there is in fact one?

I appreciate that you shared your experience. It gives me some renewed hope!

I gave a link to where zh6 was shared on Toyota head quarters see above :)

Edit the link above shows the zh6 for the us.

Might be better to call and make reference to zh6 and ask the if there was one for Canada. If this works please share

    Best of luck.
I went through a very similar experience.
Though i bought my truck from a dick in Ont. in Canada that very well knew that his frame was done, but never was honest about it,,and also had a safety done that was approved, but should never have been !
After over three months of turmoil,,Toyota Canada agreed to replace my frame and all,for free ..
Still driving it,and just love my Tac.
I hope that they will help, you out..

Just curious, when did you start your process on the frame? I just got an '06 that has a bunch of surface rust on the frame. I might just have to descale it myself... But it's a lot of work

Took my Tacoma in, frame failed. Dealer will replace frame but won’t put the lift kit back on.

    Sorry to hear that.
Why,,what they take apart, should be put back where it was,,
That is really stupid from that Dealer.
My dealer would put Bilstein 1500 on it,cause they were not Tacoma Toyota stock ,,lol
So i went to Montreal ,to buy them and install them,,
That was about six months later tgat o decided to change my shocks,,but because of there attitude ,i went somewhere else.
I still go and have my service done over there..

My frame was inspected 2 weeks ago,
Just got a call today that Toyota approved a frame replacement.
They said the parts order is $15000+
    The truck is a 2005 v6 4x4 access cab with 300+k

The dealership is ens Toyota in saskatoon , saskatchewan!

I am very happy about this, as if they didn't do anything and the truck were to be inspected for whatever reason it would never pass and would be a paperweight.

Any chance you can post some pics of your frame?
Mines a '08, with surface rust, but unfortunately I don't think it would fail.

    Hi Marc
I am pretty sure that you would know!
In my case,it was pretty obvious just by looking at it.
My 2007 was the worst case they saw in my little town, and they did at least 30 frames.
I had chips of rust falling, and some wholes in it...just looking at it Man it was scarry.
A friend if mind has a Tundra 2008 and his frame looked almost as new,and just a year apart.
As most if us know,Tundra were also in the recall.
    All the best
    Charly

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a used Tacoma in the next few months. Most of the trucks in my price range are pre-2010. I will certainly be taking a hard look at the frame on the truck I will buy, but would I be covered for a replacement if Toyota thinks I need one? It seems like they are honoring the replacements beyond their stated deadline?

Well at least you know what your in for. Make sure the previous owner had the frame coating put on, at the very least. That adds 15yrs from the operational date ( loss for words here, just got up) to the frame warranty.
My '08 is good till '23 because of that.
Buy from a dealership if you can.
Bought mine +2 yrs ago, 171k, now 195k, rides like its new, solid.
(Spins out like a greasy bitch on slippery roads though, when I gun her.)

Thread revive here but do you have that in writing that your frame was previously coated and that it's good for 15yrs? My 2007 was coated by the previous owner in 2016 and now has a hole in it. Dealer over the phone was telling me you get one inspection and if it passes, we'll that's it.

I tried to assure them that I have 12yrs for the frame replacement and can definitely have a second inspection done. Am I in the wrong?

    I'm in Gatineau/Ottawa area.
