Nice, just 9.2 miles for this pass looks like the most difficult is coming down the backside from what I could see in the video.

Damn. That's purty! Are we allowed to park on side of trail and hike up to take a photo? Or is that an unwritten no-no?

These are questions that I think would need to be posted to the park Service or who ever maintains it. I believe a couple guys now are bothering information in regards to this so we all can try to nail down a date.

It's not a problem to stay for a minute to snap a photo. There's no fixed rule (like one minute exactly) but I've always felt that a pull-off means you're only going to be a short time, not long enough to lock the truck for example. If you're planning on leaving the truck for some time then find a parking spot or trail head. It does kind of depend, though. If the trail is wide then a pull out is fine to leave your truck but on a narrow trail like Black Bear they are necessary for traffic to pass so be considerate.

I believe it's National Forest land so going off trail is generally frowned upon. At the very least, be mindful of where you walk and tread lightly.

Due to my wife's schedule we are looking at either the 2nd or 3rd week in July for this trip.

If these dates work for you let me know and we can start putting this together.

No reason 2 groups from CenTex can't invade Colorado.
