The Tucson camping trip has one open slot left if you still want to do something.

Thanks, but I was not planning on camping just a day to hit the trail. Sounds like fun!

Just came across this thread. Is there a meet happening on the 20th? Seems like it may be cancelled

So sounds like people are trying to pull something together still for January And a different meet in March? Hmm sounds like people are trying to do this almost quarterly. Wonder who had that idea.

It's not a quarterly thing. A permit was needed because of the amount of people who signed up. If it's over 70 people it's required by the Forrest service. This will take at least 90 days. This is why the big run was pushed to March. What's happening the 20th is up to someone to put something together. So if you @IronWoodman have an idea then post it because it looks like a bunch of people want to go but have no idea where to go. So get something lined up.

I made a post in the original thread that the growing size of the original event was becoming way too large and going to be difficult to manage so I opted out. Didn't really agree with the idea of having to mark our vehicles for a simple trail ride and gathering either. Asked why not try making a quarterly event and the organizer stated my opinions and suggestions didn't matter since I was not attending the event. This statement was supported by serval of the other attendees as well as being told to "F*** off".

That being said to see how things have turned out at least from my perspective is to no surprise. I know if I was someone who has been looking forward to this event for months on end and took time off work, preparing their vehicle, buying things for this specific event, etc. I would be highly disappointed and skeptical of the original organizers future events.

While I never hoped this event wouldn't have happened, I do know a month has passed since the whole realization that any large event on service land would need a permit and nothing else has materialized.

While I appreciate the suggestion that I could make an attempt to set something up, a timeline of 3 days is nearly impossible. Besides sounds like someone else has a plan already in place for Tucson. While I am no organizational manager, and from the sounds of it, no one else on here is, if I were to do something, I would announce an event with the date and everything else already in place and then cap the event at lets say 30 vehicles on a first come first serve and not really announce all the details until that quota was met... That or release the details to those individuals signed up. Smaller more frequent events would be easier to manage, potentially more affordable, and would draw less attention. I love the idea of a huge AZTW jamboree but would probably be something that would need to be worked up to something of that size. There are way too many awesome truck enthusiasts in the state not to have something frequently. The potential is there But I digress, I wont be attending so my opinion doesn't matter. Ill just go "f*** off" and watch how this all plays out from afar. :bored:

I would think the original person who posted the idea would follow through?

It was explained why this specific run is a no go. Essentially it got too big so things had to be handled a little different. With vendors involved and the volume of people attending, it became clear that permits were going to be a must. That said, the government agencies were willing to work with the group but certain steps had to be taken and that unfortunately does not happen over night. It's my understanding that the meet is still happening but pushed to a later date.

This has nothing to do with lack of follow through and I for one applaud the guys putting this together for even stepping up in the first place. Lot of people on this thread and only a handful offering a helping hand while a many more would rather complain about this or that. The event in March is going to be awesome but has to be done right in order to protect those involved. Just is what it is.

I thought these where 2 separate meets. No worries just wondering.

They became 2 separate meets. Lots of people wanted to go but the main event was rescheduled. I'll bet if someone puts something together for this weekend you'll get a good turn out. I commited to the Tucson gathering or I'd post up a Montana mountain run in Queen Valley. Lots of room and lots of trails and 2wd friendly in most places.

Well said, I say if you want to bitch about things than yes "fuck off " and organize your own meet. It became clear that the big meet was not going to happen until March because of logistics and permits. I think this is a great idea and will insure a better time for everyone. I commend the organizers for doing this. It also insures that future events will go more smoothly because we have followed all the rules and restrictions. A second smaller meet was trying to be organized for those that already took the time off but nobody seemed willing to commit to its organization or at least to the location. I set up a meet for the Tucson guys with an open invite to phoenix folks that wanted a simple and straight forward run. This was not to replace any other meets, just an alternative for those interested. I really don't understand why somebody is still coming in here trying to prove their point or say they were right all along and bash the wonderful people that are trying to make a successful and possibly record breaking toyota meet. Thanks again to the guys that are doing this the right way.

TO EVERYONE THAT WANTS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE DATE CHANGE: If you don't like the way things are being done here no one is stopping you from setting up your own event. You don't need us to hold your hand. Take some initiative, figure out your own location, handle your own logistics and make your own thread. Quit bitching, put your adult pants on and stop expecting everything to be handed to you.

PS: I don't see a PM from any of you that are complaining offering your help in planning any of this, paying for any of this or volunteering to help in any way shape or form

Sorry guys I've been laid up in the hospital with knee infection. I can't make the run due to an 18 inch stapled up incision on my knee from surgery last week. I do know the IHOP on Shea and 90th street can handle the crowd. ( notification of approx. size will help and early enough to miss Barret Jackson crowd ) It's a great location to either head north or east to trails. If the truck count is small do Sheep's Bridge. If you would like to go on a certain trail, post it. See how many people want to do that trail and go. I hate to see this complete meet fall apart.

I understand on why the date had to change so you will get no complaints from me. This is the thread for the people that still wanted to wheel on Saturday 1/20/2018. I don’t normally get Saturdays off so I had to request this time off and was hoping to salvage the weekend. I am a begginer myself and don’t know anything about wheeling, trails or what permits I need? So I guess I’m officially out on this one. I hope to meet some of you someday but it’s not going to happen this Saturday.
