I've seen it a few times and finally just had to ask. I thought maybe you came up with your own abbreviation that had a different meaning.

I ‘m surprised no one said something earlier. I orginally had the thread buried in the TX region only, then one of the mods decided to move it... It was just to keep track of my own junk... It’s all good though thanks for pointing it out.

Why the dissatisfaction of the 5100s? I just won a set and I'm trying to decide whether to keep or sell to finance an OME kit.

Don't get me wrong, they are great shocks and I'm not dissatisfied with the ride quality on pavement. More so the height, how much I spent on them (had I know how much I spent in the end with the knowledge I have now, would have gone a different route), and want better performance off road wise for future use. My biggest thing is I only bought the 5100's, no coils or anything, and blocks. So the lift/level I have is from the top setting on the 5100s and a lift block and I'm not happy with my set up. I was ignorant and failed to do my due diligence in research and should have done an AAL if I was going the route I went. Truth to be told still better than what I was originally going to do (Rough Country Spacer Lift) *GASP* I know, how foolish

If you won a set I would not sell for OME. They are around the same level. From what I was told they ride in between the soft ride OME(90021?) and the stiff ride OME(90000?). I feel like I should have saved money and done the Bilstein instead of the OME Nitrochargers. Either option I still would have added the Dakar leafs(Which I did get and currently run with the OME Stiff ride shocks(90000?) and 886 coils).

If anything I might try and trade/swap them for the Bilstein 6112/5160's which was made for the 3rd gens.

I agree, I like the ride they give me but looking back with how much I spent on them and install I would have just saved my money for an Old Man Emu kit like @LostHusker and installed myself. For like $700 more I could have gone a new set of UCAs, Dakar leafs, and 885 coils.

Do you think Nitros are better off-road? I have 887 coils so I'll be setting the 5100s at 0, but I'll also have a 130# bumper soon. I'm curious if the Billies and 887s can take the weight.

That actually sounds like a pretty good balance. But like I said, I'm curious how they handle with the extra weight. From what I've read so far of Billies, no one has any experience with steel bumpers on them. Originally I was going to do like you and run 886 with nitros but maybe that's overkill? Too stiff? Any opinion on handling off-road vs. pavement?

Sometimes I think that the 886/90000 and dakar(full pack but no AAL) is a little stiff on road. I chose this setup because I was able to ride in a 3rd gen sport running the same setup so I knew what it was going to feel like. I carry my RTT on a midrack all the time as I have no place to store it currently. I decided stiffer was what I wanted for when I'm on trails to limit the bounce when tackling rough terrain during slow travel. I only have a slimline bumper(~60lbs), winch(~60lbs) and full set of steel skids(IFS = ~65lbs, another ~60 with the other 2 skids on also) up front. I havent riden in a truck with Bilsteins so I cant really compare but going off what I was told by Headstrong about the bilstein being in between the OME's on rebound/compression I wonder if they might have given a little softer on road ride with minimal off road performance loss. Not really sure and the only way I'll find out now is If I ever ride in someone elses truck with Bilsteins. My next suspension upgrade will be a full King/Icon/ADS setup, maybe even long travel but thats a few years down the road.

Not too sure as I haven't really had a chance to compare the two, I was actually probably going to convert my 5100s to coilovers, possibly swap out the rear 5100s to the new 5160's with the reservoirs, and buy dakars for the rear. Dont know the spring it uses but it looks like a good option. http://trdparts4u.toyotaofdallas.com/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=-6882

I do know I've got about an extra 120ish lbs on the front of my truck and the stock coils have held it pretty well

Thanks again for your pics and info before. Do your leaf springs make a lot of creaking noise?
