On another note I usually drink my stuff neat or with a single ice cube. I have some whiskey stones but they don’t stay cold long and you need to put 4 in a glass to even marginally change the temp. (Then you get halfway done drinking and they try to fall on your face)
My GF bought me a giant ice cube and large ice ball mold she impulse bought:DFirst impressions are I like them a lot. Especially the cubes they almost fill the crystal glasses.

In a change of pace I have been making a variation of a “big apple Manhattan” with bulleit rye as we had some apple pucker laying around. Actually pretty good a bit to sweet but you can drink 4 in a row no problem.

Why not chill your whiskey, isn't that what a whiskey stones tries to do.

I don’t always want to have it chilled. It’s easier to cool it than bring it to room temp. I cool stuff on warmer days of after iv been working. And anytime I make a mixed drink.

Although I never really thought about chilling a bit ahead of time. Guess I’m lazy lol.

I had a bottle when it first came out and before jefferson started taking price increases on everything.

The first pour was a little underwhelming but after the bottle was able to breath a little you could taste a hint of salt air in the bourbon.

I wouldn't highly recommend it, but if you have a love of the ocean, like the story and enjoy bourbon, then i would recommend you pick up a bottle, sit back, relax and enjoy a little ocean breeze.

Figures, I find an alternative to Hibiki Harmony (which is difficult to get) that's almost as good - Blantons - and it's even harder to find! I've been watching the stock at the local BevMo and when they get some in it's just a few bottles that disappear in a day or two. Saw a different BevMo a bit further away got stock today so I drove over and grabbed 2. Guy said they got 10 in that day and he figures they'll be gone by Saturday. These should last me for awhile...

Here, at the state owned ABC store you can carry the “neck” in with an unbroken seal and they will replace it. Of course provided they have another bottle on hand.

I lived in Alabama for a few years in the late 70's early 80's as a kid. I remeber hopping in the station wagon with my Dad and uncle to drive to another county so they could buy beer. They still have dry counties there?

Yes indeed, several countries are still dry. There are city ordinances where the city is wet, but the county is dry. I was a beer salesman for 13yrs, one of my best friends is a manager of our ABC store. We pay over double the national average of tax on liquor. However, vehicle tags and property tax’s are dirt cheap, so I guess it’s a wash.

LMK your opinion on Larceny, I wasn't a fan as far as being able to pinpoint a flavor.

it is the 2nd bottle I've purchased and havent cracked this one yet. It's not a smooth as some others I have in my collection but for the price I couldn't pass it up.
My daily bourbon is Evan Williams with ice and water so its more about the volume of drinking than the flavor. My bottle collection is for single drinks with a few cubes so I get more of the flavor. I'll crack the Larceny tonight and give it some thought.

I get along just fine with folks that embrace the Correyvreckan. It is far too in-your-face for lots of folks (understandable), but damn if I don't love it. A coworker that is newer to whisky had a taste at my place one night and he was absolutely hooked. Very nice spread! Have you had that Willett Pot Still in the back, there (doesn't look opened)? A store I was in today had a 1.75L of the stuff that I was considering. I think of them more for rye, but was going to give the bourbon a shot - not to mention the bottle is pretty sweet.

The bottles make good Christmas tree toppers to go with your whiskey ornaments ;). Kudos to the wife on the ornaments (had about 25):
