They aren't guide books like the Charles Wells books are but the Delorme Atlas is great and seems to have just about every road, trail, campground and OHV park in it.

So I'm working on a setup that is light, quick and easy. Most of our excursions are like: Trail ride all day, have too much fun, don't make camp until after dark, get up at the buttcrack of dawn and do it again. We usually have a fire at night, but never sit around camp in the mornings.

I'm designing a very simple rack for the RTT that will keep it below the roof line for mileage, but give me room to maneuver in the truck bed. I'm going with storage boxes to keep the bed free so I can stretch a canvas over the rack (under the tent) and sleep in the bed on nice nights. At the moment, I'm hung up on whether or not to design the rack so I can still use a soft and inexpensive tri-fold bed cover. It would be nice to keep all the gear in the bed dry... but it will be in storage boxes anyway. It would also increase the hassle of sleeping in the bed of the truck if so desired and the hassle of reaching stuff from the front of the bed. I also cant stack as high.

Is the dry storage worth the extra hassle? I've always just relied on the storage cases to keep my stuff dry, but the idea of dry storage in the bed is nice.

Anyone care to share some pics of their bed rack / bed cover combo packed for a trip? Any experiences, stories that favor it or not?

    Thanks...

So you have a roof top tent...but you wanna fill your bed with dry storage, make a low rack for your tent, and sleep in the full bed when it's nice with a tarp over you? I am so lost.

He wants the best of all the worlds. He could put RTT on top of a bus RV and tow truck behind. Then he can have AC and flatscreen TVs too

I spend it on trucks so that when I die my family won’t waste it on stupid stuff.
