Apparently my truck resides within the territory of a little brown bird. This bird visits every day to batter my passenger side window. It's a real peck poop fest on the mirror and window.

So I came up with a solution. I spread a healthy dose of sriracha sauce (aka hot as hell pepper paste) on the mirror. I didn't want to do that, but I tried everything.

So I hear the bird battling this morning so I schmeared the mirror with sauce and went back in the house. Within a minute the bird hit the mirror again, then spent the next 10 minutes getting the sauce off it's beak. Then it flew away and came back. It couldn't help but try again but it was a half hearted attempt. Now the bird has moved on.

I've literally tried everything to include folding the mirror back and putting a cover on the mirror. Nothing worked. But sriracha sauce works. Birds learn pretty quick.

I was thinking that this sauce is a complex mixture of noxious stuff. I literally can watch and observe the bird from my window. He/she has not been back.

It's all in how you read that abstract. It's based on birds of a southern region eating peppers.

It is funny though, as I was schmearing it on the mirror I thought "what if birds don't have tastebuds?"

This bird got a face full because the front of it's face was red. Might have got it's eye's. It definantly is not lethal. That was a concern as well.

I'll try garlic paste next time. There might be something to the garlic theory.

Wilcam47 has alot of support with numerous studies citing birds not having receptors for capsacin. Very interesting topic.

I'm telling you all, this bird beats the shit out of my mirrors everyday all day long. I'm willing to do anything non-lethal to make it stop LOL.

Even when I cover the mirrors, the bird takes it off.

Try putting a stuffed animal by your side window ledge? I've had good luck scaring birds away from windows in our house using one of the dog's toys. Just kind of lean it on the window. After a few days, the stuffed animal was no longer needed.
