Thanks I dig it. Looks black at night and deep purple during the day. Yeah I wouldn’t rule out 33s again but until I build the truck to where I want it I have no need.

10F in Concord, NC this morning. Go to leave for work and the e brake is frozen.

Tried a rubber mallet on the drums, tried driving back and forth a couple feet, got the hot air gun out and hit them for a while. Nothing.

Must’ve got caked up with ice, mud and snow from driving yesterday. Whole trucks a sheet of frozen sludge.

The cables/ mechanisms are probably frozen from the slush, mud & snow - Unfortunately you've learned the hard way to NEVER use the E brake in winter conditions.

Yeah. We get maybe two winter storms a year here. Lesson learned though.

For the effort and time. A blower and regear.

    Not easy swapping a v8.

Weekend project vs a summer project haha

locks are re-keyed and re-installed. I had to fix the driver side door handle cuz I messed it up a bit. I have a feeling I'll need to replace it but thats down the road. I have 3 other doors to get me in the truck.

Try pulling on the e-brake to engage it farther than it currently is - this sometimes breaks it free.

As for better I would put my $ on the 4.7.

    1. you end up with a motor that is notoriously tough and long lasting.

    2. your running a "factory" setup so not as many tuning gremlins. Also I don't know of reliability of the 3.4 supercharged in harsh environments.

    3. It's a v8 tacoma! Not really a valid point but... is it?

I'm running 2.7 and have a 4.7 donor truck so it makes my decision easy. Its really comes down to personal preference, availability of parts, and time your willing to invest.

    which would be when? haha

@1997tacomav6 has 550k on his and all of it pretty much has been boosted...

    1) 5vzfe is actually tougher IMO. Rods can be weak in the 4.7.

    2) Can't get more factory then the factory motor...swapping in the 4.7 will be far from it even if its a toyota v8. Still plenty of gremlins to work out with that. There is some fuel issues to work out on the blower but now days there are several very good options that work perfect and aren't very expensive.

3)....no agurment there. Be bad ass haha

Still a lot of work. After watching a memeber on here do it. It is a ton of work. Might as well do a 5.3l ls swap IMO and get way more power and torque that is more reliable and has parts literally everywhere accross the country if you break something.

My bad! Just now saw this. Reason is i just like to have a nice all around prepared surface and its easier to see every little dent when primed then mark every dent with a sharpie and fix them all at once.

I just tried that and was able to push the e-brake in until it disengaged afterwards. It has warmed up to 32 and the sun is out so some of the ice is loosening.

E-brake now has no resistance until the very end when pulled. I’m hoping that’ll change once everything fully melts and that I didn’t booger it up.
