I finally replaced the IAC valve took 45min. For me that’s good. Fast idle seemed like it wasn’t working but I’ll check tomorrow.

Did you disconnect the battery during install? Would that even help on your vehicle?

Wouldn't hurt. It'll rest the ecu if you unplug the batter for longer than 15mins

I didn't ask you the other day. Are you also on stock injectors as well as the ECU?

For the next 2 days, yes to both lol.

I have an AEM FIC currently inside the truck, just not wired back up (I was having an issue with a stutter at high load/low RPM with one of my injector wires, so I reverted to stock). I plan on wiring it back up over the weekend and tuning closed loop so I can actually get on it more than 40%.

Right now, minus the wastegate not being able to go lower than about 10psi (New Mambatek adjustable being delivered today), it drives like stock as long as I lean into it when it hits open loop. Closed loop it'll maintain 14.7-15.0 AFR, which I'm not comfortable with at any boost level.

I do have plans to get some larger injectors, as well as the AEM E85 fuel pump so I can run E85 here in the spring. The FIC will handle all of the tuning requirements.

I'm working on getting a build thread together, just been super busy at work lately!

See above post to Dirty Deeds lol.
Really just waiting for the new wastegate actuator to arrive so I can really control the boost. But otherwise it's fun as hell- I've already gotten asked tons of times about the truck, especially when people hear the HKS BOV. Biggest question is, "Dude how did you do that?"

I know the aem fic can only retard timing, but technically could you take out like 350* if you wanted to add 10*? I thought I read somewhere that's how the mapecu3 actually advanced timing

Again, I don't see why guys in here keep trying to run e85. Yes you can make more power and yes it is cheaper to buy.

But the trucks fuel system is NOT designed for it. Just replacing the pump isn't good enough. You need to replace every piece of rubber the fuel touches as well. Just doesn't seem worth it to me.

ON top of that you need more fuel delivery which means bigger pump and bigger injectors. Which also means you use more fuel so in the long run its not that much cheaper and is harder to find. Without a really well tuned fully stand alone ECU that can handle blends of e85 and gas, you can't ever get a good tune by just guessing how much to blend if you try and do that.

    Just my opinion though..

As much as I agree that it CAN be a waste for most- I planned on redoing the fuel lines with the pump and injectors. The truck has enough miles for me to justify doing the "maintenance upgrade." My purpose for E85 is the significantly lower IATs and detonation protection. In my BMW I used to run an E30 blend, and while it made a very noticeable power difference, I was able to see the much lower IATs- even when I still had the stock intercooler. Plus with the URD fuel upgrade kits, it takes care of adding an external fuel filter.

thats good your redoing the whole system.

And idk what URD kit you are referring to, they don't have an e85 upgrade kit or anything that i've seen?

as for the BMW, it was made to do that im sure. Has a sensor in the fuel tank so it know what the ethanol levels are and the ECU can change its tune accordingly and fuel delivery accordingly. Your AEM FIC6...not gonna do that. THat's my point. Your tune will never be as good as it could be if you are constantly mixing in various amounts of ethanol. Because it isn't designed to do that. Its not a flexfuel setup unless you go all out and make a full standalone ecu for the truck.

So again, I don't really see the point.

I'm going to pick 1 fuel type. And tune for that to get the most out of it and keep it safe. If i want to lower detonation, I'll add a meth/water kit. Way easier to tune for and control.

Maybe im just a control freak..but when it comes to boost/turbos especially on motors that aren't really made for it from the factory...im not taking chances.

Sorry lol yea it’s fine. The idle seems low on cold start at 600-700 rpm like it’s going to stall but it doesn’t I’m sure there’s an adjustment. The annoying open loop on the freeway is still there. It makes it hard to drive 70-80 mph cruising with the afr’s as low as 8.3. Eventually I’ll get fuel management (cheapest) and plug n play harness but first I need to get another DD and pay off some debt.
