Arguably, ethanol has been used as an octane booster since early to mid 90's.

Meaning, modern cars(late 90's and up) are setup to run ever increasing levels of E85. The lines, gaskets, and seals will not deteriorate. The only valid issue that's been raised so far, is the lubricity of E85 and the detriment caused to the pump bearing surfaces.

Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
did we not determine like 1 page ago that the only lines (at least for 4.0) that are rubber get replaced with the urd kits, which are e85 rated?

Maybe I should've asked: With the same setup you currently have, will the truck and component be reliable for years, without replacing the ECU and injectors?

URD sells fuel pump upgrade kits- that also give you the option of E85 pumps. Injectors I'll be getting from FiveOMotorsports.
In the BMW, from the factory it was not designed to run e85. When I added the JB4 tuner, I was able go no higher than an E30 mix (electronic wastegate and HPFP limitations). The JB4 auto-tunes itself for fuel and climate conditions within a certain spec, which was awesome.

The FIC6 is going to be in a dual-map mode via a switch. One for straight E85, the other for 93 octane. We ran a similar setup on an Evo 8 without issue, using an FIC6 for a little better control than the factory ECU (which is damn well open and VERY tunable).

I won't run e85, probably ever. Sure it's cheaper, but there's no mpg gain.

Well according to @KirkRio's build thread, he put a decent amount of time in on stock fueling/ECU at around 5psi without issue. But 5psi is boring after a while he said...that's about the same power level as the V6.

I'm going to connect the FIC6 and run all tables zero'ed out, this way I can see what the injector duty cycles max out at starting at 5psi. That will basically tell us the limitations of the stock fueling system. I plan on adding a new adjustable FPR down the road- probably the same time I do the pump/injectors.

Long story short- I'll keep everyone updated with what I find. KirkRio kinda fell off with answering any questions, so I'll try my best to get info that people want/need.

This is refreshing to my budget to hear!

VERY interested in the lifespan of ECU and injectors at 5psi. I do not plan on going much, if at all, above that. I want a little boost with longevity, not tearing down my motor after one pass like a top fuel dragster.

I know that he runs the shop- I messaged them on FB a while back, but he was at SEMA (lucky bastard haha)

I basically don't need him anymore, now that my junk runs. I'm a strong independent black woman who don't need no man!

@MrCrowntown don't you have a friend overseas that's been boosted for a while? I feel like last we recall, these motors like being boosted at reasonable levels. A MAJOR portion of it is in the tune though. The factory ECU certainly doesn't accomodate closed-loop boost; this is where getting a piggyback (MapEcu3, AEM FIC, Haltech if you're a big baller) helps and keeps it safer. Budget-wise, I got my FIC used from a member on here for $150. There's MapEcu3's going for like $400 on eBay. Small amount of money to pay for safety, in my opinion.

If budget is what you're worried about, here's a very quick breakdown for me:
    Turbo: $700
    Manifold/DP: $275
    Intercooler Kit: $160
    Fittings/Lines/Etc: $250
    Misc Bullshit: $150
    AEM FIC: $150
    Wastegate: $120
    AEM Wideband: $150
    AEM Boost Gauge: $145

That's a total of about $2100. I probably forgot some small stuff, but I do have all my receipts. It took me about 5 months to get everything together and installed. I just slowly bought everything, and when I felt I had done enough research, decided to install it.

I DO get a CEL, p2441 for Secondary Air Injection valve stuck closed- but that's probably because I don't have the pump line running into the downpipe. With that said I'll be testing a Hewitt Tech bypass kit ($350) to see if the pump can be bypassed. As far as I know at this point- I am the first 2012+ to be turbo...so there's going to be some guinea-pigging going on on my end lol.

I will continue to observe and take notes! I'm planning to get bigger/better tires, armor finished (front bumper and winch), locked rear, possible re-gear, and then maybe boost.

When I met him, he was already on the piggyback unfortunately..

He is now running a Full ECU, shooting for over 500!

I also sent him the 3rz balance shaft delete, as he was oil starving his motor up at peak RPMs
