So popular right now, I'd say 85% of my bathroom bids want heated floors.

 

Definitely intend to do that. My friend has it in their bathroom and it's soooo nice.

I'm more concerned with cooling it during hot days.

 

I went and had the truck checked yesterday at auto zone. Nothing but the old codes. The throttle position sensor is all one unit with these throttle bodies from what I understood from Brian. I’ll reset the ECU and change the plugs then clean the MAF this weekend. Truck ran fine this morning tho. Hopefully it was just a glitch.....

My former roommates installed the miniduct things on the upper floor about two weeks before I moved out (the two events are not related) to replace a central swamp cooler. They're functional, and probably pretty efficient, I'll grant you that. The neighborhood doesn't have gas, so everything is electric, hence all baseboard heating. The miniduct system lets you do the same thing baseboard does - keep the temp control in the room you want vs the entire house. Unless of course you have any kind of open floor plan. But I didn't like them and probably would never use them given a real choice. For starters, there's a large (twoish by threeish foot by sixish inches) unit up high on the wall in every room, which granted isn't much different than a window or in-wall unit. Then there's the noise. The units themselves are relatively quiet in terms of blowing air, but the problem is that the compressor or whatever on the outside of the house is mounted in relatively close proximity to the wall units on the inside. Which means up on the wall instead of down on the ground. And that outside unit runs when any of the inside units connected to it do, sometimes more. The result was this low frequency hum/vibration that sounded like some kind of industrial unit running. Now, part of that was the exterior unit happened to be mounted outside my room, and it wasn't as noticeable in others (so don't put it on your bedroom wall).

All in all I wasn't terribly impressed. He always complained with central air about the noise of the central unit kicking on and then air blowing through ducts. The swamp cooler was far worse than that, and the miniduct things are pretty similar to your typical hotel room hvac unit - definitely not as quiet or unobtrusive as central. They solve a problem and they do it efficiently, but imho they're not ideal.

 

Blue Valley Energy replaced our furnace, and added A/C (replacing a swamp cooler) to our house last spring. Very tidy installation, no issues with either since the install, and good service. They originally quoted us for a 4" filter setup and that info didn't make it from the estimator to the installers. The didn't have one in stock on install day, and sent over a foreman to install it a few days later.
Make sure you check with Xcel energy for possible rebates as well. Between the upgraded furnace and new A/C, we got around $1100 back in rebates. We could have gotten even more, but we weren't replacing an old A/C, so missed out on that option.

 

Here's where I was 'stuck'. I got the screws out with the little screwdriver ratchet. And then once I got the screws out I realied I was being dumb and that little brace only attached the dash to itself.

 

Those are similar complaints to what I've heard as well. If I go ahead with this addition I might also consider just adding another zone/furnace/AC compressor for the new space and simple duct work running off of it.

anyone have good recommendations for making or buying a hoist for a RTT? need to find something so I can store my new tent in the ceiling out of the way when I am not using it for long periods of time.

was looking at this seems simple and kind of ready to go once installed. or was thinking of just buying pulleys and making one my self. thoughts?
