In channel rain guards and tints

Just got my windows tinted and the guy who installed them took out my rain guards because he said they will ruin the tints. So my question is what have your experiances been with the combonation of both tints and in channel rain guards ? I have noticed some small scratches on the outside of the window from dirt getting caught in between both the window and the guard. But considering they are on the outside I didn't think it would affect the tint. What do u guys think?

 

I think your tint guy is a moron. Wait for the tint to cure onto the window and put them back in.

The visors tuck outside the window...The tint is on the inside. If it's cured down that edge will be fine.

Sort of agree with above, it won't be an issue once the tint is cured, but at the time it was better to remove it since they need to lower and raise the window when installing the tint, so its better remove it to avoid risk of messing it up.

^^^ I think they were designed by a smoker who couldn't go 5 minutes in his car without smoking while it was raining. Those things look hideous IMO. Off the topic, sorry. But yes, I would concur that the tint guy is a moron also. He took them off because most tint places cut the tint by laying it on the outside of the window and the rain guards get in the way and make it hard to see the top line of the window. So if you like 'em, just slap them back on in a week.

 

To see the top line of the window he would simply need to lower the window... the issue is during installing the tint he will lower and raise the window during the process. To avoid messing it up when raising and the tint already in place its better to have the vent visor removed to avoid any possibility of messing it up since its not even close to being cured yet.

 

i have a set of in-channel rain guards (because i *do* live in the PNW! ) and got my windows tinted about 2-3 months ago. i left them off for about a week to let it fully cure and then put them back on. so far, absolutely no problems with the tint edge... no peeling/curling or anything. don't think there ever will be either... just anecdotal evidence, but maybe it'll help...

 

or someone like myself that likes teh window down at 75mph and doesnt want the inside of my truck to look the the scene from twister.

they cut down on winds ability to enter the cab. from shit! shit! the windows are down; to oh it is nice to have the windows down.

 

I have in-channel guards on my Tundra...had the windows tinted last summer with the guards on. So far no problems!! My tint guy didnt even question the fact that they were on the truck.

 

I had my windows done a few months ago and the installer did not remove my in channel visors...... I have not had any issues with the edges.

I agree that taking them out to do the install was probably a good move, and I also agree that putting them back in after the tint is cured will not cause any problems.

 

Love getting off topic. I'll say the reverse is true too. If you live where it snows a lot, you know what I'm talking about. I don't like having heavy coats/clothes on and getting the cab up to 90 degrees inside just to keep the snow melted on the windshield below the wipers!!! And if you lower that window, you're asking for a lot of snow coming in without the visors. I'm always afraid I'm going to break the wipers too when the passenger one can't go down to within 4 inches of it's resting spot. Why, oh why, didn't Toyota offer the heated windshield in these trucks!!! After all, you can get it in a two-wheel drive Sienna!

 

uhm to each their own, i have the inchannel visors and i really like them, that tint guy is an idiot. I had my windows tinted with the inchannel visors and have not had an issue since day one. Your tint should cure with 24 to 48 hours then reinstall them and enjoy your truck.

 

WHY THE HELL don't they make car doors/windows like they used too???
my old camaro I could have the windows down at 75 without the 'tornado' effect ,in the front seats anyways
In this truck at 20 and the window barely cracked I get blasted in the face/eye

oh and I smoke a lot of crack cocaine in my truck, so the vent visors are real nice for me.

 

My tint guy removed them as well and just said to leave them out a week or so and said I could put them back once it was cured well. Haven't had any problems since putting t hem back in.

And yea, I like being able to keep my windows cracked while having it parked and not worry about anything getting in or being able to crack them while driving when it's raining. Definitely have enough uses to make the peoples opinions that they're useless to be incorrect.

 

forgot that yea i love the ability to have my windows cracked at wally world without anyone knowing so my car doesnt smell of donkey dick sex spit in my truck, when i return. just good ol fresh air from shreveport LA

 

Like you said. It shouldn't affect the tint since the guards are on the outside and the tint is on the inside.

btw its TINT. Just like Deer, Geese, Moose, etc. I had a police officer say that one time. "I pulled you over for your window tints" I thought to myself, wow I just lost all respect for you.

I love my rainguards in the summer time because I can leave the windows cracked and not worry about the afternoon thunderstorms.

 

I have tint on my front windows and I also installed the In Channel Vent Shades

I have no problems at all with interference...They don't scratch the tint either

They are the Auto Vent Shade Brand and the tint is Lumar Brand
