5 degrees with ice on the roads and it was still obvious once I crossed into Shelby County. Stupid a-hole drivers doing stupid a-hole things.

I've been trying really hard to not let myself have a reason for a new front bumper lately. People are dumb

Jedi mind trick # 63. Make a list....Things you want to do to the truck (that won't draw felony charges) . Then prioritize in order. The overwhelming size of the list helps lessen the over-all trauma of just one or two expensive items. ie, Bumper looks expensive. When you compare that cost with the grand total of lockers, tires, winch, RTT, the rest of your motor, etc, that bumper is almost an incidental expense! GIT EEEEEEEEEET!

Life is funny...You never know when you'll be done enjoying a "hobby". (ie, "life", "wife", etc.. gets in the way) So Damn the torpedo's....FULL SPEED AHEAD!

Build your truck while you can.

This is one thing you learn as you get old...Do things WHILE YOU CAN. You won't always be able to. You deserve it. You've earned the right.

I'm back to where I can afford to build the truck. Now physical limitations stand in the way. Just getting old and suffering "systems failure". I have more to do, but the surge in build activity back in August and September got me over the hump. Now reaching that stage where I may have to pay someone to do some of the work. Makes me very glad I rushed through what I already have done. No regrets.

You have a group of youngins you wheel with ranging from mid-20s to 50s that would be more than glad to do donuts in your yard after helping install parts.

    GIT OFF MY LAWN.

    (I'm "that guy")

May conduct a cook out/back-yard camp out/bonfire/beer drinking contest later this spring. This may center around front locker install. I did it once (re-geared Tacoma) Armed with the memory of that task, I WILL have help next time. I have a 4 acre back yard that's several 100 yards removed from anyone's house. Makes a superb camp ground. And a fully equipped garage right there too. Not exactly a major adventure trail, but it has been the site of many parties!

me and the gf visited Memphis a couple weeks ago for her bday (same day as Elvis' bday). It was ironically the same weekend the statues were taken down. People were scared of walking around.. tons of cops everywhere. Supposedly only a dozen or so protesters actually showed up. Massive waste of tax dollars.. but I did call highway patrol on a guy going the wrong way down I-40 in the far left lane as we were coming in. Must have been on some good shit. Also the fire alarm went off when we were in Bass Pro... lol.

Anyways, people talk bad about Memphis but for being a tourist, I enjoyed myself. Tons of history in the downtown area. Great audio tours about the evolution of blues and such. Elvis's house was pretty cool... really like a time capsule of what "high living" was like 40-50 years ago. His house, adjusted for inflation, was purchased for about $900,000. That's like a slightly-better-than normal house in Nashville city limits these days. The Gibson factory was really cool too.. though I think the tour should be 1.5 hours instead of 1 hour.. they hurried us along and I really want to stand there and watch the floor workers do their thing, especially with the fret boards. Unfortunately they said the inlays are put in off site. I always wondered how they do that.

PS we ate at the local burger joint (Dyer's) off Beale street on our last day (IT WAS REALLY GOOD), and some politician looking dude was sitting at a table with another rich-white-guy looking dude. The guys across the table from then all had on Wahlburgers shirts.

Apparently they're opening a Wahlburgers on Beale. We asked them and the guy said he was Mark's business pahtnah (actually he didn't sound like that).. but I kinda thought it was a low move for them to have that meeting at the LOCAL burger place off of Beale. But whatever. I went to their location in downtown Boston and wasn't impressed.

It's been "trendy" for a long time to talk bad about Memphis ONLY because of crime. I've seen and done plenty of both but have never lived in an area of the city that I felt scared to leave my door unlocked. There are parts that I'm uncomfortable being in but I've been to parts of Nashville that from an appearance stand point, I was much more uncomfortable in. Memphis is a great city and continues to only get better. There's plenty to do for tourists and even more to do for residents.

Oh and Marky Marks place is gonna have a hard time here, especially if they try and put it on Beale. I agree, it's just not very impressive in a place that's very impressive for nasty southern food. Haha

Don't forget about the roads... I think Memphis has the worst roads of any major city I've ever been to! o_O

Idk, downtown Nashville is pretty trash too. Though less actual trash on the roadsides... :bananadead:

Actually no.. Memphis may have more inanimate trash, but Nashville has way more of the cardboard wielding types..

I was actually surprised to see a "no soliciting on the roadway/median" ordinance in Memphis. Nashville REALLY REALLY needs that.

My coworkers and I were at Taco Bell near downtown Nashville and some homeless fuck walks up and asks for something to eat. My coworker holds out a wrapped taco and she says "here you go, I can't eat it anyways" .. dude pretty much waves his hand like "nah.. I don't want your shitty taco". I was like  you just asked for food. My coworker then tells me no, they didn't want food, they wanted someone to go up and buy them whatever they wanted off the menu.

Fuck that. Pissed me the fuck off.

Haha, I don't mean trash on or near the roads... I mean SHITTY Roads, full of large cracks, potholes that can swallow a car, and uneven lanes. Driving around Nashville is almost like driving around paradise when compared to Memphis.

I know lol. The only good road in Nashville though is the interstate and the burbs. Anywhere near downtown is horrible.

    Beggars can be choosers, eh.

Don't know about down there, but it's all a scam up here. And their getting more and more noticeable around Columbus. You'll have a 1 mile block where you see, 2 or 3 begging for change, and the 2/3 are more than likely a "team" that splits up. I have been unloading my work van in a downtown alley and watched 2 fella's meet up, heard em talk about "spots" and then off they went again, separately.
