It’s pretty accurate now but what a job getting there. I think the bulk of RPR’s are good out of the box but there people like me that get a bad one. It’s been talked about on several other forums. I think what pissed me off the most was Ruger’s lack of give a shit about groupings. They will tell you it will shoot 1000 yards but back off when you ask about sub MOA performance. I have a Rem 700 in same .308 chambering that has a ton of work done to it- probably more than I should have. It will shoot circles around the RPR. Go to any other websites RPR discussion & doesn’t take long for the upgrade recommendations to start. They are all the same. Replace barrel followed by a chassis change. WTF? Should have read that before I bought. I bought it because of all the hype. Never shot one until I got mine. I paid around a grand for a second gen ($1499 MSRP). Sadly, you need to dump another grand or more (mostly more) in it to make it a legit player. If I was buying right now- I’d be all over the Bergara B-14 BMP. A few dollars more but a lot more rifle!

The Tikka is a great choice. I have a T3 but not a chassis. Great shooter! Did you get the T3X TAC A1? I have a friend that has this rifle & love it. I would love to get my hands on the TK3/Beretta TSR in 260. A price of 2k seems high to some but this is about as close as you can get to a custom rifle. If I wasn’t retired on SS........................................

It appears that the best thing Ruger did was force all these other players to respond. And respond they have. I found a few RPR for under a $1k. I would've jumped but the 50/50 of getting a shooter or not did not play well to me. I then held one and immediately saw the canted barrel that has been mentioned more than once and I decided then to get the Tikka. It's not that much more and it seems you'd be close after "fixing" the RPR. I was already looking at new hand guards, and was going to pick up a Magpul PSR stock. And I would've been really close to the Tikka price. Which I'm going to do a Magpul K grip right after I pull it out of the box. I really wanted the RPR but I think I made the right decision in end. I looked at the Bergera too but the Tikka floats my boat a bit more. I really like how the bolt goes into the buffer tube on the RPR aesthetically.

Before the RPR. If you wanted a chassis rifle, it was custom. A chassis rifle plus the hype for a grand is what attracted me. Now everyone has one in the game. The RPR 2nd gen has a few things going for it. The 20 MOA rail is pretty nice & the bolt is very smooth. Barrel is so-so & chassis is a real POS. Looks nice on the bench. My scope is worth more than the rifle ;)

This showed up looking for a home. I took it in and bought it some glasses. Waiting on it's crutches and frames for the glasses. Poor guy. ;)
