Always been happy with mine, jeep and this truck.

But if he goes offroading as much as he says, I wouldn’t hold back when it came to tires if your abusing them multiple times a week. Get the best. Cooper with those 3ply triguard whatever the call it sidewalls. I dont think I’ve come across a complaint about the st maxx, except the price and maybe weight

Armortek or something like that. I had em and agree they're amazing tires. Just heavy and only offered in e range for almost every tire.

So far though love the duratrac.

So you went 3 front 2.5 back?

I was talking about those pieces that get bolted to the top of the shock then get re installed

    yes.

I didn't want to run all that preload on the spring being compressed a lot to get me the 3" lift in the front. When I do the bumper I'll be replacing the springs to a heavier duty 700lb spring. Means less preload and same lift with all the weight.

Rear is only higher as well because once I load all my camping gear etc in the back its actually level and to bring it down I would need to remove an overload in the leaf pack whcih will mean less payload.

Those extensions you're thinking of do not gain any new flex and aren't comfortable to ride with.
If you want it just for looks might be fine but if you want at least some performance go with the billies or ome.

So those extensions and blocks make the ride stiffer?
I love the way it rides stock. Not sure what they used compared to the sport and off road but it rides great as of now.
I don't want to drop 800 or more to lift it 2" when I want tires and rims too. Just too much to spend at once.
So if kits like the ones I listed don't make much of a difference in the ride I'm ok, but ya if they make it terrible then it's not worth it

    Often rougher.
What size tire are you planning because you won't fit bigger than a 265 70 17 stock.

Honestly better off saving your money until you can get at least billies or something. Don't rush into it.

Cant say anything bad about the Coopers other than price. Even at the snow run, my tires had 90k on them and they still have tred. They are starting to show their age with cracks but the guy at the tire shop said they still have life in them. Keep in mind, I run these all year long, but they are e-rated....

The one that I got a flat on though was done. Driving on the flat (Because I didn't know) ruined the sidewall. Guess 35's are happening sooner or later.

Thanks for all the help guys, 255/75's seem off the table for me after further reading. I will be loading my truck eventually with bed rack and RTT, and I feel the load index of 111 with load range C on the 255/75 selection is not enough for a loaded taco, aired down.

    :cookiemonster:

I will get it right eventually :bananadead:

Looks like a 255/80r17 cooper st maxx is right for you.

Load range d would work too. All those cruisers on 35 that Ronny and them have are all on d rated and they are definitely heavier than us.

I am going to hike up my skirt and get a set of 5 of what ever it is I get.

I just feel like I am going to be pushing shit a bit harder in the future and will need that spare.

I can find em for the same locally, that is the lowest price I found in calling 6 shops.

    $274 each

This site does free shipping in Ontario supposedly, same price

For guys looking at the 255 varieties. I will be selling mine soon. I think they are good for spares....Can work something out where its on a rim since they are 16's and some guys are going to be running 17's.

My tires and rims 255/85/16 on first generation alloy rims painted black. If your just going to throw it under the truck its perfect.

Thanks for the offer Peter, but I cant bring myself to get a different size spare. I want to be able to switch my spare out while I am 2 hours into a trail and just keep wheeling, not worry at all about anything. So I am simply going to get a set of 5 and a 17" rim for my spare.

Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx 255/80/17 are looking like the decision for me.

Hey no worries. It’s funny that the only time I have had to switch a spare was on the snow run. Crazy. You’ll be happy with them. Clearance is good, you want need a regear (keep in mind mines a heavy bastard) and the traction due to the pizza cutters is awesome. Would have loved to get a taller, skinnier tire but non are available in a all terrain. Even looked at military take offs.
