By this article from last year an F150 is sold every 30 to 60 seconds. 1.6 sold per minute.

Purchased my 2016 F150 Lariat Crew 4X4 for $38,800 in September 2016. MSRP was $49,660.
Traded to Toyota dealer after 13.5 months for $37,500 in October 2017. Not bad!

Got the Tacoma for $2,212 off MSRP. MSRP was $40,463.00, paid $38,251.00 on a Monday.
Could have had it at $2,400 off on the weekend but I was busy and couldn’t make it to the dealer.
    2EA5FBA0-C7BE-44AF-9EE8-68C65FE0FBC4.jpg Oh well.
Took the few thousand in equity and put it down on my new Tacoma.

    I’ve owned several F150s and 3 F250s.
    Also owned a 97 4Runner, 2000 Tacoma and 2002 Tundra.

Like many here have done, you can always get $10,000 or more off of a Ford if you wait for model year end deals.

Don’t pay too much for an F150!

My Tacoma is a solid truck. Just check your drivetrain fluids first thing when it’s new.

Ford probably has less Dealerships which would mean more volume passing thru.

Is this per dealer or total? I read numbers recently and when you combine Chevy and GMC they are almost equal.

No idea Bro, I was just trying to figure out the sales per minute thing too, and if there were fewer Ford Dealerships it could explain it.

I know Chevy isn't the best but, you buy a Dodge? Good luck with that, you have a lot better chance of having problems with a Dodge then a Chevy.
I don't like either so I'm not taking sides.

If you combine Chevy and GMC sales they almost always outsell Ford. I have been driving Toyota's since 1992 and have had 1 small problem on a 1997 4Runner that the dealer fixed. I purchased a new Sequoia in 2002, sold it to a buddy in 2005, it just turned 500,000 miles with general maintenance and upkeep, all original drive line. I will continue to take my chances with Toyota.

I have owned umpteen Ford trucks and 4 Tacomas. I had a 2008 Prerunner double cab and a 2014 F150 that I sold to buy my 2016 new Tacoma. I think build quality is equal. When I bought the new era Tacoma I expected new model issues. I did have some that were worked out over the first year and I came very close to going back to Ford. For me size was the primary decision maker. I love the size of the Tacoma access cab. My 2014 V8 F150, which I searched for to get the bigger towing gears, was an excellent truck. Had zero issues with it in the 2 years I owned it. That also was an extended cab. It was just too much truck and was terrible on mpg's. I knew that when I bought it. If you research you will find new era Ford trucks also have their share of issues. It is never wise to buy the 1st year of any new vehicle as they all will have some issues generally speaking. If I were to buy another F150 I would only buy the 3.5 liter engine. Awesome power of a V8 and mpg's of a V6. After 2 years in my Tacoma I am extremely happy with size, mpg's, features and performance. I have made a ton of mods to enhance the handling and performance. IMO you win with either brand.

I'm not a smart man but if you add up Chevy and GMC full size truck sales for 2017 you get 803,807 units sold, Ford sold 896,764 in the same time frame, that's just shy of 93,000 more units sold by Ford or in other words 254 more trucks sold per day than Chevy and GMC combined! Damn new math!!! By the way not a Ford or Chevy fan even thought they sell bazillions more trucks that Toyota.

Yep, and the best truck made is barely up YoY. No wonder Toyota is already offering $1500 cash back and 0% on 2018s. By end of January it is possible I could pick up a 2018 for not much more than my 2017.

I've got a F-150 as a rental as my wife's Jeep is in the shop so I can literally drive the trucks back to back. We've got a XLT Super Crew with basically zero added features and the 2.7 EB.

The F-150 has a better feeling motor but the transmission is a bit clunky and slow to kick down, but it is a rental with 17k on it so who knows how it's been treated.

Getting into the F-150 without steps is an adventure. It must be higher than a Taco even though it looks lower. It's a bigger challenge getting into it than my lifted 2G.

My main gripe is the sheer size. It's so wide inside. Reaching for the controls is a very real thing as the width pushes the radio and part of the HVAC out of your reach. However the back seat is great if you need to haul real size people compared to the Tacoma.

The one huge plus is the nose slopes down compared to the Tacoma so it's much easier to place the nose of the truck.

I haven't put a ton of miles on it but that's just my initial impression. I do like it more than I thought I would but it's too big for me.

I think my Tacoma is about the perfect size, not too big, not too small. I guess if I needed a full size I would consider a 5.0 F-150 or possibly a Tundra but they are quite outdated.

I traded in my POS Ford F150. Never got the gas mileage it was supposed to, barely fit in the garage, hard to park in tight parking spots, lots of slack in drivetrain, and very low trade in value. Only had 11k miles on it, when I got rid of it.

That's because he got it for what its really worth. You think when a domestic truck commercial comes on being Chevy, Dodge, or Ford and you see 8,000$ off and 3,000$ cash back!! is really all its cracked up to be? Nope. The truck has a inflated price and they are taking all that off because, truly its a piece of crap and not worth the sticker. Like buying a Gallon of milk (we know usually its like 2-3$) for 10$ but you get a 7$ instant coupon to use during checkout. You run home with your thumb in your ass telling all your friends what a great deal you got. Why do you think Toyota and Lexus doesn't budge much, if any at all on pricing. cause really the truck is worth that.

I wouldn’t mind if Toyota went to a small turbo to give a little more pep. I liked the 2.7L turbo Ecoboost very much. Super fast and that torque down low...

Now I’m not saying the Toyota 3.5 isn’t adequate. It is. Does what I need it to do. But that turbo kick....woosh

I’ve had a ranger, and an F-150, and both were nightmares. The size of my F-150 was perfect, and cab room was huge. The problem with F-150’s is they’re basically building the engine upside down, so spark plugs which usually are an easy fix, are now under the engine. This forces you to go to a dealer, lift the engine, and take out the plugs which is not cheap. And the F-150’s are known to blow plugs. Unless you need an abundance of cab room, get the Tacoma no question.
