$200 installed? That may be a realistic price, depending upon the quality of the vinyl.

Drop down to a lower quality vinyl (typically thinner) and the price will drop, sometimes drastically.

Ebazon has exactly what I want, 3M 1080, for $50 in the size I need. I'll roll my own and let them do it.

This is a near-permanent thing man. Rather a pro handle it.

I can toss up a vinyl sticker like nobodies bidnez! Not a whole hood wrap.

Yeah....what he said. Some soapy water in a spray bottle, new razor blade and a plaster trowel.

Honestly, try Amazon. They will have different grades of vinyl.

I think you are underestimating yourself. I think if it had designs that you wanted to either line up across multiple body panels or to line up straight, i'd agree....but, with it just being a black piece....you could do it.

Also, I'd consider matte white. Kills the glare without changing the look of the truck too much.

Yup this and a heat gun. Hair dryer may even work if it's powerful enough. Never gonna learn if you never try.

    Clean the hood.
    wipe with alcohol
    spray with soapy water
    lay vinyl
squeegie out the body lines, pull tight to the corners,

continue squeegy-ing until all bubbles are gone.

Heat gun to move the vinyl when needed.

Actually you should just plasti-dip the hood. That way it isnt permanent and you can do it for a whole hell of a lot less than $50

I bet $30 worth of plastidip would do your hood and the roof. Matchy matchy bruh.

Turn to shit after a while in the sun. Doesn't fade in evenly. Been down that road of thought before.

Well, I'm going to be honest here. If you consider vinyl to be almost permanent, why not actually go "permanent". Paint it. Body shop could have it done in a couple hours, and it will fade in properly (not at all). On top of that, the right body shop would probably do it for around the same price?
