2018 driver side grab bar mod?

Tried to search with no luck. Anyone have one installed?

A few people have asked about the mod. The 2015 handle will fit, but for the 2016 onward they removed the 2nd welded "nut" from the frame of the truck. So you'll have to rig something for the bolt to thread into. I just put a single nylon Smitty handle there. (underneath the SRS airbag cover) I can remove it and go back to stock whenever.

Airbag won’t deploy on one strong accident tug when getting into the truck right? Haha. Good idea though might try a more lasso method rather than a handle

 

Anyone think this is possible? Sorry new to cars in general so have no clue. Like this design though rather than a nylon string flapping around

 

As long as the mounting screw is the same thread as the bolt I think this can work.

Thanks will look into it more then when I get off work! Just praying one big pull when getting into the car won’t cause the airbags to deploy (I know, but you never know) haha

 

Pretty likely you might hit your head open on that if you get into a collision.

Hey nice job. Is the bolt used to mount it located under the pillar panel cap ? I Just ordered a race tech handle

 

The standoff spots are there, you just need to put Rivnuts in.

 

Oh, the holes aren’t threaded ?

 

No threads, just standoff brackets with the hole.

 

I believe the rivnut and bolt are in the top location under the sr5, it's the lower one that is missing and would need it if you were going for the traditional OS handle.
I am curios to see if this holds up..... I needed on like yesterday.
