Tread Life Factory Goodyear Wranglers?

Ive got 23k miles on my factory Goodyears that came on my DCLB 4x4 OR and they really have not done well. The tread wear is perfectly even but they could be replaced now. Ill have to replace them in the next 10K for sure but really expected more out of them.

For those running the factory tires like me how many miles have you got out of them before they where worn out?

 

I have over 40k and they still look almost new.

 

I have 23k on mine and they still have just over 1/2 tread remaining and that's including a ton of driving in the mountains - and I tend to forget I'm in a truck and drive like I'm in a sportscar on those switchbacks and often smell rubber when I do so I've been REALLY happy w/ the Wranglers

 

I hate this tire I jumped a curb at 2k miles and popped the sidewall! Kevlar!!Sheesh.. Whatever! I got 18k miles now and am tire shopping they look super puss too! TRD trucks should have a meaner looking tire that can go off road and not look puss.

 

Agree they aren't the best looking tire in the world, but I have yet to get stuck with them and I've had them in mud, slick rocky unmaintained trails, stream crossings, etc., Was set on replacing them when I bought the truck but they've done everything I've asked them to and if I find someone with a new truck taking them off w/ a deal I'm almost inclined to replace them with the same...

But the itch will likely take over to throw on some KO2s or Ridge Grapplers instead for a bit better stance and meaner look w/o having to invest in the suspension / lift madness. Been there, done that - MONEY PIT

 

Mine came with duratracs.. only 2200mi still look new haha

 

60k on mine, and they still look and run good. Will probably replace them in the spring. I do a lot of highway driving. Only light off roading.

 

Main thing folks forget when thinking about tire life is tire aging and loss of grip.

Grip declines with age, regardless of wear. At about 5 years, tires need replacing even with very low miles.

A reasonable practice is to select tires with tread wear expectancy that would be worn out, based on your average annual driving, in 3-4 years.

 

I'm just about to the wear indicator at 29K miles on my 2016 OR. 90% freeway miles. Disappointing.

Replacing tomorrow with falken wildpeak (which I'm sure won't last long either...but at least they're cheap)

 

34K and Im probably at 50%

 

21k and I will need new by 25k

 

To those getting only 25k-30k, are you doing a significant amount of off roading? Do you have a lot of added weight from mods? I’ve got 16.5k and my tires barely look used at all

 

No real off reading other than dirt, gravel red clay roads of east Texas. Probably 80% highway miles.

I have towed my castsita a bit. 4600 mile trip this summer and probably another 400-500 on other trips. It’s dang near to the tread wear indicator. I imagine I’m pulling 3200-3500 lbs including all the gear and family.

Really expected more though. Ill be replacing them with Cooper At3s sooner than I hoped lol

 

My FIL put a set of those on his 2nd gen Taco. Less than a month old and he didn't make it 5 miles down my county road before a rock went into the center of the tread blocks cutting the carcass all the way thru. I've only seen that on 1 other set of tires in the 18 years of driving the road daily (new Yoko Geolanders) and I returned them immediately--exchanged for Michelins.

I've cut plenty of worn tires on my road but only seen those 2 brand new tires do that.

 

Is there a mileage/year warranty on these wranglers?

 

I thought they had a 60k warranty

 

Mostly on road hey miles. I was at around 24k and they had approx 4-5/32 left. My wife’s Michelin’s are also done 5/32nd with 24k on the odometer. Seems common with OEM tires these days

 

I posted about the Hankooks being at 1/2 tread at 10,000mi awhile back. The OEM tires only have 10/32" of tread when new while replacements have 13/32". I have a set of new Toyo take offs in my garage and they also only have 10/32".

 

Mine were toast at 22k, almost to those center bars between tread. Did regular rotations. Lots of off-road and rough pavement. Disappointing though, they weren’t bad for traction.

 

My bro at work has an offroad and he has over 80,000 miles 90% freeway and still has a few thousand miles of tread left.he lives them and is gonna get another set
