Toyota was slapped with a class-action lawsuit and lost. They turned around and hit Dana with one (which Dana then lost). Ford never lost a class-action lawsuit forcing them to cover the problem. Toyota did. It wasn't some massive goodwill movement on their part; it was part of a settlement.

The pics of the trucks of the members looking for rust buy back are for 15 year old trucks in 2013. Toyota was buying back 2008's in 2015 lol.

EDIT: Even one member admits he's looking for money back on a truck with a modified frame built in 1994. After 20 years in the rust belt being driven daily, nothing but the best taken care of vehicle lives.

Bottom line if my frame needs replacement on my 2013 in 2020, I won't buy another Toyota Tacoma. Period. It would be the same story if my 2008 F150 needed a new frame. It doesn't. It has 400k on it back at my old place of work.

Yeah my original point was an attempt to slow the circle jerk of the quality of a vehicle that won't be on the market for another year. We know what the issues are with the third gen. 40 some-odd pages of "the ford will be better" when the truth is no one knows if it'll be better or worse. That's what annoyed me. So I pointed out that what they're currently making has issues, why would the new one be perfect? And now we're here.

Not on the 1st gens. Doesn't make it any better, but the class action suit was for 2nd gen rust belt trucks. Still better than what any other manufacturer does, which is fuck all, and they all rust where there's salt on the road.

Not that it matters in regards to the Ranger, but that turned out to be bogus in the end, no?

Despite the suit and settlement – Toyota's admitting "guilt" – it was never repeatable or even proven to be "floor mats," the ECU, or anything else... In retrospect, it was a few unfortunate cases of user error/confusion and a viral news narrative that led to mass panic about something that wasn't a real problem in the first place.

edit: ...and yet, we still live with the emboldened floor mat warnings to this day...

Take a closer look at the Supercab version. Looks like the rear access door doesn't open 180-deg like the new F150:

Proper steel front bumper with no ugly-ass airdam:

Rear axle comes with flipped U-bolts and a small lift spacer. Interestingly, on the show truck, the active tires are Hankook Dynapro ATM (what I run in the summer) while the spare is a Continental:

Unfortunately it isn't going to be like my father's Bronco... he had an '84. Though purist will say 1977 was the last year for the "real" Bronco.

From all reports it is going to be a rebadged Everest...which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but does Ford really need another IFS SUV??? Is the question.

The new Ranger is better-looking than the Colorado, maybe better-looking than the 3rd gen Taco :stirthepot:
Click on each pic for full-size:

Lower-trim models come with reflector headlights:

There's a locking tailgate handle. I suspect the rear bumper may be plastic like the 3rd gen. Rear window has a frameless slider like the F150:

Tires are 265/60R18 - 31" just like the Taco:

^Tail lights are probably going to be one of the first things to be upgraded if I owned this truck. That is, unless the blindspot monitoring sensors are built into them, like on the F150...

I do not like the looks of them- but four back up lights is a plus.

Why would they put 18" wheels on a midsized truck that will most likely be aimed toward the off road crowd? Why? Why? Why?

Unless they are planning on just competing with the 2018 Ridgeline?

Toyota does kinda the same, to get a V6 MT ACLB (ya know... a real dudes truck with no kids, a guy who buys a truck to be a truck) you have to buy the Sport which comes with 17's, thought most guys who are into off-road prefer the MT and either 15" or 16" wheels? I know I do.

...and like most trucks sold in the good ol' USA now-a-days including the Tacoma, majority of them will never see dirt. There are 5 Tacomas on my street we live on, mine is the only one that ever has dirt and mud on it. 3 of the 5 are garaged kept, I don't...a truck doesn't belong in a garage, it is a truck after-all, yan know....Save the garage for the sportscar and motorcycles.

I am interested in the XL trim with no chrome and steelies...but in white or silver so I never have to wash it, oh and a Super Cab, none of that double cab 5' useless bed nonsense. (couldn't find a picture of that) :D

Probably just a concession to daily driving, from customer research. Steering response really suffers with tall sidewalls. My truck has 32" tires on 16" wheels, with no noticeable slop in the steering system. Yet there's a noticeable lag between turning the steering wheel and the truck changing direction: the wheel turns but the tire contact patch take a while to catch up. Can't imagine what 255/85-16 (33") feels like...

Most Jeep Wranglers are delivered with 18" wheels. Even the Rubicon comes with 17"s. :notsure:

Plenty of TW members run 18"s. As much shit as we give them for being mall crawlers, their dollar is as good as ours.

Color matched door handles, Weathertech floor liners, bed mat, Durafit seat covers, tailgate clamp, 2016 TRD Sport 17" wheels with Yokohama Geolander AT tires , Toyota exhaust tip, Toyota/Yakima bike rail mount, Toyota wheel locks, Toyota hitch cover, Redline hood struts, unifilter on air pump.
I went from 16” to 17” on my truck and I noticed the ride quality went down a notch, but the handing improvements more than made up for it. Of course if I did hardcore off-roading I wouln’t have gone that route, but my truck does fine on the trails around Nevada.

The most embarrassing thing for Toyota is the owner group.
