I thank the lord everyday for my health insurance. Unfortunately making time to set up the 5100 on my left knee is tough on my busy schedule. I'm going to wait till retirement.

My truck is pretty much stock, besides the 35's, 4" lift, 4.88 gears and Air Locker, and I'm getting 17.5 -18. Truck drives really well and I live up an 8% grade for about 8 miles a day.

I hope @OVTune developes a program for the 2.7L. I know there is a whole bunch of Toyota Nanny's holding this engine back. The older Highlander with the 190hp 2.7L screams, not sure what the differences are.

Next weekend I will be switching from a TRD off-road manual to a SR 4 banger manual. I am getting more and more excited. I already get 22 hwy with this thing, but want a less "complex" engine with slightly better MPG.

I also drive for UPS and have been there for ten years. 6.5 local sort 3.5 driving. I know what you mean. I cannot wait to retire early(around 25ish years). I also hope I never stop driving a manual. Drive hard and drive safe!

You won't unless you blow a knee out. Had to switch to a automatic back in 2007.

They are switching to autos here and I have been doing therapy for this knee issue. It did go out when I started driving the manual for the UPS truck long clutch. I went to therapy and asked then to give me a sheet of workouts to work out my knees and have not had a problem since. I really do dread the day this happens though..

Think UPS switched to automatics because of losing drivers to bad knees? I know a guy that quit working for UPS 10 years ago because he tore his knee up jumping out of the truck on a patch of ice and blew his knee out. He rehab-ed his knee and wore a brace like me while he was out for deliveries but the pain from pushing the clutch in was more than he could stand. I blew my left knee out jumping off the towknee of a towboat onto a ice covered deck barge up at St. Paul, MN. back in 1995. Should have it replaced but I keep putting it off.

What ever came off your backfire? I've heard a few pops coming from the engine compartment when the air pump is running in warmer weather but not a backfire

Mine does this at startup unless you turn on the key and let it sit for ~5 seconds before starting. Sounds like a cough. I think it's a lean pop and letting the fuel pump run for a few seconds prevents it. Just a WAG and no, I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

Anyone have rattle from under the engine compartment or up by the grill are? I scaled up and down all around everywhere without taking things apart and have only found the front grille plastic to be a little loose thinking that's the cause but haven't gone anywhere further with it. My came with a block heater maybe that's giggling around I dunno? Definitely not the dash rattle everyone is complaining about I also have that it's different.

I have a squeak ~the left front fender near the battery that's damned near impossible to find. Sounds horrible when going over bumps with the window down. You can grab the radiator support and make it squeak but damned if you can find it. Dealer pretty much blew me off about it saying "these trucks just squeak"

Are you talking about a continuous rhythm like "tick-tick-tick" that almost sounds like valve noise once you are warmed up? Really extra-noticeable if you are crouched by the driver's side front wheel well?

If so the 4 bangers do that once warmed up. Normal, a little bit alarming, but it's actually some sort of emissions solenoid or something along those lines (it's been forever since I looked this up) making a noise and the plastic manifold acts like a trumpet to make it louder.

Happens to a lot of Toyotas as a matter of fact.

Exactly what they told me" you're not the first to complain about this and you won't be the last! They just don't make em the same anymore." But i still haven't got a clear answer from anyone on what is causing the noise. Bought the truck new so I can listen to age ya know!!! If it's normal fine just tell me what the hell it is lol

Nope this isn't a mechanical noise it happens only when going over bumps like something is loose

Sounds like we had the same service writer. I can wash mine and it goes away for awhile then begins again after a few weeks travel down my county dirt road when the dirt works its way in.

    Too few to list.
If you're concerned about mpg then I suggest sticking with the same tire size it comes now (245/75R16). When I was at this size, 24+ mpg highway was the norm. 265/75R16 has dropped that to 20-21. Thinking of going back to stock size. I felt a slight drop in power going inclines with the bigger tire size but adding a header from LCE remedied that issue.

I notice people craning there neck sometimes when I'm driving here in town. I bet my truck rattles or squeaks.. I don't roll my windows down so I guess I don't hear it.
