put in the skinny tire size at the lower section and site shows you the tires available for that size. Click a tire and it will give you specs including weight.

I see that you are running that size on an 8" wheel. Looks good. I am thinking of going that way as well, but with the Methods and a 0 offset. I am wondering if that will work with stock suspension. I will eventually getting the 5100's for a small lift, but in the time being; I wonder if it will work, or rub like hell due to the offset of the wheel. Would you happen to have any thought s on that?

Honestly, I don’t know much about Methods and what people have experienced with them. My wheels have a negative offset and push the wheel out past my fender flares a tad and help to keep the tires from rubbing on the UCA. I know a lot of folks run the 255/85/16 tire on stock wheels and suspension with little to no rubbing. With a 0 offset you will have a slightly wider stance than the stock wheels which should mitigate rubbing on the UCAs. But take what I say with a grain of salt. I don’t have experience with that set up.

I do not think that I would have to worry about rub on the UCA with this tire, as I am also looking at the same Toyo that you are running. I know with the lift it will be no issue. May as well do it all at once. Thank you for your input.

So after reading through this entire thread, I'm still a little unclear here on what is best for snow. I'm in CO and do a lot of driving through winding mountain roads during snow storms and currently have the stock TRD OR Wranglers, which seem ok, I'm used to driving Subaru's with pure snow tires, so a truck with A/T is a different world for me. I want to get some bigger tires for offroading, but most of my driving is on highway and in rain/snow I would say. Originally I was thinking of getting 265/75/16 KO2's, because my friend has them on his g2 and likes them, but then I stumbled upon fitting 33's on full stock... So I guess my question is what do people think of Cooper S/T and S/T Maxx on snow vs stock or KO2's. I do not know much about tires, so if someone could help explain why these are better briefly too, that would be very helpful. Thanks!

St maxx did great in the 10-15" of snow a couple weeks ago. No complaints at all with the tire. STs are lighter and come in C rated but I have no experience with them, but people like the tire from what I read. There is an S/T specific thread that's floating around the forums.

    Good luck.

just upgraded to skinnies in ST Maxx from stock. Also in Colorado and was just up in Keystone during the snow storm this past weekend. Went over Loveland pass Sunday night and tires were great. Very planted. No issues with snow and I can barely hear them on dry roads. They are a E rated heavy tire though.

A skinny and tall tire will help you cut down through the snow more easily and will give better traction through snow as opposed to a wider floatation size tire. A wider tire will sit on top of snow and ruin any grip that may be there while a skinny tire cuts right through and either gets down to the road or at least cuts into the snow and surrounds the tire with snow rather than floating on top. Don't air down for snow either and you'll be fine with some tall and skinny 33s

Thanks, this is super helpful! I was looking to get the ST Maxx tires after reading through all of this and was just worried about the snow getting to and from snowboarding, but this is perfect. I haven't been too impressed with stock on the snow, not terrible - but nothing great, and I was in my friends Tacoma with KO2's coming back from Winter Park Sunday, and they did pretty good, but there was definitely a little slippage a couple times coming down Berthoud.

    Great thanks for the response!

Good to know, thank you very much for this info! Definitely makes me feel better about the skinny's.

I run the Cooper S/T's and they do just fine in the snow. I would really look hard at the weight difference between the Maxx and ST. There is a 13lb difference between the two. That is a big difference especially when the stock OR tire is 37lbs.

Thanks! I'll definitely look into these as well! I'm not too too worried about the weight, unlike most 3g's on here, I don't think the truck power is a problem, and it seems like people who have gotten the 60 pound tires haven't felt too much of a difference. Also I plan on removing the spare and have no added weight to the truck, but 13 pounds per wheel is crazy.

I agree I have st maxx 255/85/16 stock rims and a 3 inch lift. I don't have a issue with power the trucks have. I lose gas mileage and some power but nothing major. After the first week I don't even think about it anymore. My gas mileage is 16 in Houston traffic 18 on the highway.

I did race my buddys stock 17 sport to 70 mph just to see. It was closer than a thought it would be. He had me by about 10 ft.

Yeah I'm planning on doing the 255 with stock, which makes me nervous about rubbing even after all of the posts that say it's fine (still might do 265/75), but if you don't notice much difference with a lift, then there will be even less without.

Either way will be a improvement. 265s are 4 lbs light a tire. I wouldn't worry any with a 255 clearance in a st maxx. The place where they will hit is the cab mounts with or without a lift. Mine clear by quite a bit. I do have icon uca and my caster at 3.5 which help a lot.

    Are you running stock suspension?
    255/80 or 255/75/17 tires?
