LT would probably have cost more, haha.

According to the diamond industry, I should have spent 5x more on the ring (based on what I earn yearly) but her and I both agree that that's crazy and that money would be better spent on our own home in the near future, or children, etc.

This is why you gotta do it in the opposite order. LT first and then once that's paid down a little, worry about the ring. That's my path at least. Probably pay off another $2-3k off my long travel and I'll start shopping for one of those

Get a Premarital agreement to go with it. 40-50% of United States couples get divorced. People change so you gotta prepare for that or loose half of your stuff later. LOL
Just kidding...Kind of. Good luck Ryan. I want an invite to the open bar wedding.

Am I a dick for writing that? I don't want to be a Debbie downer but I feel like that's good advice.

not at all, both her's and my parents are divorced...my parent's divorce was somewhat recent actually. Watching what that put both my mom and dad through was awful, and we (the kids) were adults...I can only imagine how hard it would be with little kids involved

What is the standard for how much you should spend? Percentage of your yearly wages?

The "old rule" is 2 - 3 month's salary, which is absurd IMO

Crazy. The dude that owned the coilover company Donahue was arrested for child porn too, dunno if it was before or after he sold it to Icon though.
