Think Clear coat would be cool. May not last as long as regular paint? had a bike that was clear coat, and it was hard to see chips until it rusted. Not that it would matter on a UCA but still

Did you have the ball joint with the grease fitting? I will be getting the whole front end re-done when I get the re-gear. With almost 200k, since its coming apart to do the spindle and cam gussets might as well do everything else. So, thinking of throwing in the upper ball joints with the grease fittings.

Also going with stock lower ball joints, LCA bushings and bolts....Apparently the LCA bolts are $80 each. FML

I had the old school ball joint.... fucking 3/8 play in the joint.... Got the upgraded ones with zerks. The clear was going to go on top of a dark blue originally but I saw the bare metal and thought it might look cool. My initial thoughts were the same as yours in regards to longevity.

    Also @tacoma16

new OEM LCA at the dealer is 460$

Bushing for LCA from partsdirect are about 90 each x 4 to do both sides and lower BJ is 115$

its cheaper to buy new OEM LCA's then it is to rebuild them. That is if you replace all the hardware since the hardware alone is 300$

Hey if you get them for me I have no worries throwing them in. Plus with that mentality I would have ended up SAS it. lol got to draw the line somewhere. Between the gears, lockers, gussets, and the unexpected bed and cap this year Im tapped out. I can't bend over far enough for this shit lol

I won't need cams as I am going with the total chaos cams. So right now its just bushings, bolts and the balljoint. See how she goes...I would have changed the entire LCA thing if I knew, but figured from the dealer it would be way more than those items alone....as they generally charge you for everything and then the actual LCA on top..

the LCA comes with the BJ and Bushing. BJ and Bushings alone will run you about almost 600 bucks + the time to install everything + cost of having someone do it if u go that route and 2 new LCA is about 920 and I don't think the dealer will actually sell you the BJ. I remember reading that somewhere haha you can see in the diagram below that the front part of the LCA has a separate bolt but the rear side the tab is actually part of the bolt. but u can look at what u need on the diagram and compare the part # to the pricing I listed earlier. I have been debating what to do as well because I have 240k on my truck and I will have the front end apart doing my lift install in the spring time.

again, these were all OEM prices, if he goes aftermarket then it will be cheaper haha you can buy Moog LCA's for 120$ each haha
Moog outer tie rod ends are about the same price as OEM but the sway bar end links are like 50$. LCA moog bushings are like 25 bucks but reports say they are a little loose in OEM LCA's. I have heard they sway bar end links are garbage too, from what I have heard Moog is not a good as they use to be, same goes for AC Delco lol

Just checked my credit card. Turns out it was $918.00 to be exact.

@Joe23 tbis is why I didn’t do the uppers and lowers.

I mean as long as he can get same price or better then whats on partsdirect and doesn't mark up the pricing then yeah I would expect to be paying around 600 plus tax for parts unfortunately haha partsdirect vs dealer is pretty much the same price, some items a little less and others are a little more.
