They work, they firmed up the rear end which is what I wanted. If I planned on more lift I woulda gone with bilstens for the adjustability, but they work for me as it is as high as I plan gl go Sans tires

    Stock... for now
Got a quote for $3.6K for the following... Seem high, what are yall's thoughts..

    Maxtrac 4" Spindle
    Toytec AAL
    285 Nitto Ridge grapplers
    Method NV 17" rims
    Install/Align

I price everything out online for around $2.6K (without install). Am I crazy or does this seem like a high quote? Have had mutilpe truck done at shop and always felt price was spot on but feel like $3.6K is high..

    Thanks in advance!

My shop charged me $450 to install spindles, front springs, rear block and shocks and alignment. I'd say ask for a written estimate to see how many hours they're allocating for each job

What size wheels and tires are on the 4" in this picture? Also do you remember if it required any cutting or trimming to fit them? I'm shooting for 4". Appreciate the feedback. Truck looks real good

Those were the stock TSS wheels 17x7 I think they were and the tires were 285/75/17 ko2s. I didn't have to do any trimming with that setup but since they were the stock wheels and I didn't run wheel spacers up front, they barely cleared the spindle by like 3/4". Had no rubbing issues though.

In thinking of going with the maxtrac and Dakar, but will the spindles work with the stock 2017 sport or will I need different rims? If I have to buy rims I want the Trd matte black wheels, would those work?

Spindle specs require 4.5” backspace or less

    TRD sport wheels 7/16-25
    7” wide with +25mm offset ~5.5” backspace
    TRD Pro 7.5/17-30
    7.5” wide with +30mm offset ~4.9”backspace

I used 9” wheels with a very small positive offset and got lucky they still cleared so there is some wiggle room with this (it can be very slightly more than 4.5” backspace) thought i was gonna have to do spacers on the front wheels.

There’s now way the sport wheels would work without spacers on the front. If you’re super attached to the TRD wheels then get those they may work but you also may need spacers to make them work. Just remember the spindles already push your front track out .75” so any spacers you add will add to this.

I went with a 9” wheel and 12.5 tire, paired with the push out from the spindles it makes for a great stance. If you want a narrower track though make it work with the TRD black wheels!

Maxtrac spindles are much thicker and 4” taller (lift the front 4”) also its a true 4” of lift because theres no setting. Only an option for 2wd trucks though.

Ahhh gotcha. 4 inches wow. That must be hard to match up a rear lift with it?

Stock they come about 2.5” higher in the rear. the maxtrac 4” kit comes with 2” blocks. Leaves it with 1/2” rear high and looks level to the eye. A 2.5” rear leaf lift works out good too if u dont want to opt for blocks.

The 2" blocks that come with the kit will leave your truck with a lean (front end higher than rear). I swapped that for the Dakar Leaf pack which gave me 3" of lift in the rear and it was dead level or right there at the leveled area, no lean whatsoever. But if you want the cheaper way then go with a 3-4" block for a leveled or slight rake look.

My friend! I just put my Maxtrac 4incher on the Taco with some 285s. Are you rubbing at all? I seem to be cutting it a little close. Been a little hesitant on the tight turns in case I rip something up.

Leo4x2, I know you've answered this question ad nauseam, and I've asked you and AustinNative a ton of questions, but I finally talked to Marie@Headstrong today and she asked " how can I help you?" I told her what I wanted to do but she had questions I wasn't prepared to answer. Could you briefly-- one last time-- answer some basic questions for me? I'm not sure if I need to go 6.5" or if 4" is enough?...

I would like to keep my stock 17" rims (just like the black ones you had) but go to 285's-
    - will they rub AT ALL if I only go 4"?
    - do I need new struts for the front with 4" spindles?
    - do I need Dakar heavy duty or regular for the back + extended length Billies?
    - do I need CB drop with only a 4" lift?
    - basically what's my optimum set up for keeping my 17" and going to 285's?

If I decide to go to 6" (or is it 6-1/2")-
    - will it look stupid with the 17" + 285"? I believe you ran this setup for a little while correct?
    - good idea to add Billies to the front with the HBS strut spacers?
    - all I will be adding is a 2" block to the Dakars in back correct?
    - CB drop?
    - drive shaft spacer?
    - anything else I'm missing?

I know this is ALOT of info, but your Taco is badass and you've done both lifts. I realize you have to work for a living, but I'd be happy to compensate you with some premium stories if your interested!

Ahh my man! With the 4 incher on 285s you’re going to be cutting it really close without any trimming. Sometimes I will catch some rub as I’m reversing out of a driveway in full lock. This doesn’t happen very often though, especially once you get the feel for it!
