I think I read recently there are only 12 state's left that require safety inspections and only 4 state's have window tint laws ?

3 years ago I did the brakes in my previous truck. Checked the rear and they were fine so I only did the fronts. 3 months later 5 hours from home and 1.5hrs from my parents place with my car hauler behind (had a sailboat mast on it) and my brakes seemed spongy. I checked all around and found the rear passenger side which I didn’t check had destroyed the rotor so bad that the piston from the caliper was falling out. Vice grips on the flex line and I limped it to my parents place by using the ebrake and stopping every 20 minutes or so to top up the fluid. Replaced the rotor and caliper and was on my way.

Without my ebrake I would have been screwed. Lucky I stopped to inspect and was able to buy a ton of fluid on the ride home so I still had brakes on two wheels and part of a third. Had I not caught the issue I would have ONLY have the ebrake. EMERGENCY BRAKE. It isn’t called extra brake or anything else.

FWIW I use my e-brake every time I park regardless, or rather irregardless, of whether the ground is level or sloping.

The irregardless reference was from another post that started a :crapstorm:

    99 4Runner AT, still use the e-brake religiously. 06 RAV4 use e-brake religiously, 16 Tacoma MT, religiously.

It's quite simple really, one cannot drift without it. I'm surprised no one brought this up

My time in Calleefornia was out on the desert many moons ago.
Safety inspections weren't mandatory then, but rather it was up to you to keep your stuff up to snuff..

The CHP would set up impromptu inspections along the road now and again and pull you in randomly.
You didn't want to get stopped there if you knew you weren't legit and they were pretty good at picking out the non-compliant rides.

If they found one thing, they could find 10 !
Lot's of sudden turns into the Del Taco and U-turns when the word went out and lights were flashed ! :)

You didn't want to get caught avoiding or running them either, cars were set up to chase these special offenders too !
