Hell, first time being in here.

Definitely in for this! After taxes, changing gears, maybe lock the rear also.
Might have to setup another MOD day and get you all to help change all this for a run.

If you're paying the fee to have my truck helicoptered in to Buck Island Lake and Rubicon Springs, I won't argue. :bananadead:

But in an effort to save you $40K, I'll man up by then and actually run the trail. ;)

Currently looking like it'll happen in June/July. Need to pick up a set of CV axles before then first.

Yea, I'm fairly certain that your fabricator welded the steel to the wrong face of your skids. You're going to get hung up on everything now.

Ehhh , he'll round out the edges in time.
Personally, I'd try to make gusset reinforcing from the opposite side if possible.

Even if the edges were rounded off, it wouldn't help much, if at all. It's just another point of contact where he can get hung up on a rock.

Question then, why not just bend your skids back to their original form, sell them, and go buy some 1/4" skids?

Not enough to have a build thread.
Do you have a link for some 1/4" skids? Only way I've been able to find them is to ask someone to make them for me. It would run about a grand.

Dosnt bud built make some? Im not sure.just thinking i saw some 1st gen somewhere.
I think its over kill tho for wheeling unless you love bashing rocks hard. 3/16's has been good enough for crawling a DD. The due the job they may bend but they save your parts

@RelentlessFab 's has an IFS that is super sturdy. Built to last. Just select the 1/4" option before adding to cart.

    https://www.relentlessfabrication.c...products/96-04-tacoma-ifs-skid-aluminum-steel

As for a belly skid, there's a reason I built my own. No one builds a 1/4" belly skid that is flat. RelentlessFab makes a belly skid that is 3/16", but for my type of wheeling I prefer a flat belly and the 1/4" steel is nice to prevent bending over long term use. Still it's a great option. Looks like it's built a lot better than most.

BudBuilt does make skids for the first gen Tacos. I know a couple guys on the FJ Cruiser forums love them, but I don't know much about them on the Tacos.

Edit: Here's a link to the BudBuilt skids.

Mine have had to be pressed at my dads job twice. Thus the reason we added mexican bandaids. Haha.

No way these would do well on the rubicon.

I find it funny when people say that these will hang me up on a rock. Its 3/16 of an inch. It will slide right over
