Thanks for the offer, I have a couple of hookups with business' which possess forklifts here in the DUB. I wouldn't save more than the cost of shipping for one bumper by going to get it, but it might be a nice break from my day to day life.

 

Was going smoothly, till I stripped a nut trying to press in a bushing to the rack, had to pull it all the way out to cut it off. Then I noticed the frame where the top of the U bracket for the steering rack bolts to was cracking. Oh well, better crack a few cold ones, the day got longer than expected.

Let this be a lesson kids. Don’t wheel your Toyota. They break

 

Eric used to make a replacement bracket for that. But that could have just been a jason jberry special.

Also, why they hell did you need to use bolts to press the bushings in? they should go in pretty easily except the last bit. Which you can just use the bolt that actually mounts the rack to do that when you put it back on..

Cuz those were the vertical ones, that wouldn’t have fit into the frame if it was sticking out, so I figured I’d just pull it together right quick. False

 

Friend of @SconnieHailer and I just got a set of those last month in bronze. Pretty sharp looking wheels.

Well the rack was already *mostly*in the truck and I was trying to avoid taking it out again. Which I ended up doing anyway

Also putting in the new axle I’m pretty sure I bashed the outer surface of where the axle first slides into the diff (konstas conclusion) and I spent over an hour trying to figure out why my axle wouldn’t go in. So now I get to file town the lip and remove the bashed edge I just made and hopefully get my axle back in

I must have not been hitting it straight and it bent the weak metal inside the diff

ah so you didn't get the splines started before smacking it. that sucks.

That is a bit of a relief to hear. I was a bit worried about the gunmetal but it turned out OK.
