Awesome Engines! The paint job on the plane fooled me as it looks like it matches GEs Flying Test Bed.

Been doing auto car washes for years without problems. I go to the high end ones, not the drop a quarter in the slot ones. Never had a problem.
I told my wife to do the same with her NX but she went through a budget one last year and it added some nice fine scratches all around her car.
The good ones have materials/products/procedures in place to eliminate damage. My paint still looks new after 2 years of frequent use.

Exactly! One size doesn't fit all. There are good ones that don't damage paint.

I hand washed mine yesterday and rinsed it off by throwing buckets of cold water on it. It isn't a perfect wash but better than nothing as it had so much salt on it I thought I owned a white truck.

Then you just have the hood Line-X'ed. Problem solved. Line-X won't blow off. Have a quote of $650.00 to do the hood and cab roof.

Damn. I guess I'm in the minority here. Since these high end automated car washes started popping up everywhere, I use them when I don't feel like hand washing. Never had a scratch or problem from any of them.

Nothing wrong with brush car washes. YES, they will swirl up the paint in no time. The truck is still going to look good, as long as you wax it periodically.

My neighbor has those monthly car wash passes and runs his stuff through almost daily. Cars always look really good. I did show him one day when the light was just right all the swirls (this was a white car) and he kind of freaked out.

You could pretty much just run it though for YEARS, then if it bothers you that much, or you change practices you can easily have the truck buffed out and start anew. That is what I did once- Fender was car washes and offroading - door was freshly buffed

Now, I personally only hand wash or touchless spray wash mine...I wear the pinstriped from wheeling proudly though....the paint between them is flawless lol.

We recently bought my wife a used Mini and it is white. Fot now, I will run that though plenty of brush washes...until I get it properly detailed when the swirls get out of hand.

The only way to be certain that a car wash isn’t going to mess up your paint, is to avoid anything but touch less or do it yourself

There are two of them within 5 miles from my house.
Most of the time I go to the car wash with the stalls and pressure wash it, because the truck is caked in mud and dirt.
I can't seem to go around mud holes. :notsure:

If I just keep it covered in dirt, that'll protect my paint, right??

I go to the car wash and blast away anything I can with the hose.
I then take the bucket of hot soapy water and sponge I brought from home and wash it down.
Ill blast it one more time and try to spray everything I can get at underneath.
The hot water also keeps my hands warm while I am washing it down.
I just heard about using a water sprinkler underneath from a friend last week. Great idea.
Its unbelievable how much brine they are dumping on Ohio roads this winter.

I go to the automated car washes... I have a white truck so I usually wax once or twice a year to revive. White FTW

Sure it will...if you can stand looking at a filthy truck.

Yeah we have 6 self serve car washes in town. The one I go to strictly prohibits people from washing there mud caked trucks, trailers, 4 wheeler's. Just so much nicer washing my truck in a nice mud free wash bay. Clean place of business also!.

Put on an LED headlamp and go look at your trucks paint at night. You'll be surprised.

I don’t have the treatment done to my truck but a buddy of mine has the treatment on his corvette and it is pretty awesome. If I were to be a automatic car wash guy I would definitely invest! I just prefer to wash my own and take every precaution I can to avoid creating swirls
