    If you need juice off the line, you want a quick clutch engagement in first. No feathering. Feed her lots of hay post grab and she'll take off in a good sprint.

    You can wind out 2nd to about 60 MPH if you really want to burn dinosaurs. Light that 3.5L up!

    Went wheeling today, holy underpowered crap. Was in a dry creek bed with some coarse and loose sand/peagravel stuff. If you stopped and tried to go the truck would bog, even when I tried a rev dump (wanted to throw some roost... gotta impress the girl right? ) and it fell on it's face. It couldn't reverse in the sand in 2low or up slight grades or against it's own ruts... had to go 4 low or bump it forward and let the slope and the gear take me back.


    Yet, the thing never got stuck and got us home... love hate with this truck... Took a steep climb, got caught up on the loose and uneven ground so I tried Atrac out (that actually works very well...) and the locker really powered through it (once it engaged)

    There's gotta be an issue why this thing is such a gutless turd off the start? Even when I wound it out and had it going 40-50 on the sand in 2nd and 3rd gears it would just fall on its face even at full throttle :(

    I try that, but it feels like it cuts throttle and it will drop to 500, then pick up and go again. 3200+ rpms the trucks ok. anything under that it doesn't pull

    Did you turn off your traction control so your ECM is not sending signals to your anti-lock brake system. If you don’t turn it off, your ECM signals your anti-lock brake system to apply the brake to the wheel.

    I don't believe you actually drive around in 2nd at 4mph. My truck growls below 10mph and is close to lugging at 7mph.

    Dunno what to tell ya. I spend almost all of my 'parking' time in 2nd gear since 1st is so jerky without slipping the clutch constantly.

    How was the install for the short shifter? The other threads about the degree of difficulty, lack of instructions and quality control irks me about URD.

    I've been thrilled with it since installation. But yeah the actual install is a bit of a pain. Mostly due to the clearance on the front two bolts. I've given a write-up on here before about my trouble with it. I did eventually get everything back together and it has been worth the difficulty imo.

    The install can be massively simplified if you just go into it knowing you'll have to cut or bend back the sheet metal at the top of the trans tunnel. Get some snips and go at it.

    the biggest issue i find with the OVT stuff now is that you have to buy the thing at full price to even know which ECU code version you have. for you that's ridiculous. pay $800 or whatever to find out it's the version that's absolutely not worth the price of admission.

    is that what you're referring to?
