I wouldnt say that. 2nd gens still are not as good but I will not call it ugly anymore.

And you can say your dropped truck is better than mine when you can follow me out to my camping and hunting spots out on the river.

a turbo is always going to be able to produce more power as far as your truck it all depends on what your going to be using it for. if you want to run it down the track then def turbo it. i think a 3.4 sc would be good for wheelin and you have the option of 4x4 but i dunno lol

as for my truck the turbo was a lot faster on 7 psi than the s/c on 9psi

yeah i use the 4runner for wheeling and crawling. so i have the 3.0 in it now but i am going to the upullit to pull a carbed 22r so i may do the efi swap and turbo it. should bump it from 105hp to 140hp and with the new cams might get upto 150hp on the crank.

what compression do you run? 8.5/1 with 7psi. stock is ~10.5-9.75 and that is too high for a turbo i have been told. the 22ret is a nice starting point and the turbos are rebuilt often and abundant. i want teh low end of a supercharger but they are harder to find and more expensive.

also can you put a "turbo-header" on a 22re or does it use the stock manifold/header

    10,5-9.75 is not high compression..

We built a k20 rsx boosting 14lbs on 11:1.. made damn near 500

for a 22re it is. the engine wasnt made the way the subarus was. 10.5 on a 22ret would be high. hell on a 3.4 it would be high. someone had a 3.4 turbo'd and he brought his compression down to 8-9/1 at 5psi for the break in and then slightly increased his boost to 7-10 i believe.

those subaru wrx stis are my favorite cars. the 2003 model with the 07 suspension and drivetrain is my wet dream. wife still says no...

22re from '85-'95 have 9.4:1... which is slightly lower than my boosted tacoma..

And the k20, is a honda engine... originally NA. Compression ratio would be the least of my worries when turboing...
