Wheel tire combo

I have a 2015 tacoma and am looking to get some new wheels and tires. Just had a 2” leveling kit installed. I’m looking to keep it under 2k. And suggestions?

 

I am also looking for wheels, but it appears everybody's running black or darker colored wheels which I just cant warm up to.

I have a good amount of chrome on mine. (Grill, door handles, side mirrors) so I wouldn’t mind a little chrome. But I don’t want all chrome. That to me just makes it look afraid of dirt haha

 

Yeah, I am not a big fan of chrome wheels. I Had polished aluminum on my 93 which I really liked, I may go back that route.

 

I just put these on, TRD FJ wheels and 235/85/r16 Duratracs. The back spacing puts them very close to where my stock TRD O/R wheels with spider trax spacers were. I'm out about 1800 for the combo, but was due for tires anyway so really not too bad. I like toyota factory wheels, got them from trdparts4u, and went with silver so when I scratch them up it will be less obvious than black. With my coilovers and rear springs I'm somewhere near 2" front lift and maybe 1" in the back with all the weight.

 

Those look nice man! I think I’m trying to stick with 17” wheels though.

 

There are always these wheels, 17" and come in black too, I was tempted but preferred to stay with 16" as 17" tires seemed to run about $200 more a set for comparable sizes. I may be a little OCD but six lug wheels just look funny to me with other than six spokes.

 

Here are the ones my 15 came with when I bought it new, they are a Toyota special order wheel. That you can get at a Toyota dealer. I like mine there heavier version than we’re on the Texas ediction. And I don’t care for all the black ones. And there dirty too.

 

Anybody out there with a set of 3’rd gen gunmetal SR alloys mounted up on your 2’nd gen?

 

I got a good deal on some 2017 trd or take offs , theres alot of them out there so can probably snag yourself a good deal

Put these on my white 2015 I think they look great. Wanted to get away from the method wheels so many are running. I’m over 2k tho.

 

They are more expensive because they are Toyota and not because they are 17”.


Word to the wise. Pay attention to whether or not the wheels you are getting are lug centric or hub centric. Most aftermarket wheels are cheaper because they are lug centric and can fit many different models. This means they will require additional hardware for fitment and they may never balance properly.
Lug centric wheels have to be roadforce balanced. Shops can charge extra for this or not be able to do it at all. Or the shops could have incompetent techs who don’t know how to use the machine.

The 4Runner TRD Pro wheels here are a very light but very strong wheel. They are lighter than stock wheels which is nice for MPGs. It allows you to run bigger tires with less fuel economy impact.

And those wheels have 6 spokes w/ 6 lugs...
