MT owners, would you still buy a Tacoma if the MT weren't available?

    Title says it.

I'm personally not interested in owning a Tacoma with an automatic transmission. I've been driving manual transmissions all my life, and I simply enjoy driving them more.

That said, the computer playing with the RPMs on this truck is driving me nuts. It really doesn't mesh well with a manual transmission. Not really sure what the answer is for me though. I'm not really interested in any of the other choices on the market right now. What I wouldn't give for a mechanically operated throttle right now... :(

Are you asking if the mt wasn't available if i would buy a Tacoma still? Yes i would. I like my manual transmission but i do agree that a mechanically operated throttle would be a lot better.

Mine only revs goofy right after I disconnect the battery if I'm working on the truck. After 50 miles or so, its back to normal and never does it anymore.

I'm not sure I would stick with a tacoma if the MT wasn't an option. If I had to go auto I think i might just go with a bigger truck all together.

    Yes.

I have driven manual transmissions all my life and truly believe that they really are only beneficial in Sports cars. My M3s I loved having it, my older Tacoma it was a nuisance.

Loving the Auto in my DC.

I have had 3 Tacomas and each has been a manual trans. I passed up a killer deal on an 08 FJ Cruiser simply because it was an auto and I drove 250 miles out of my way to buy the 09 Manual access cab I have now.

I was not able to find a manual anywhere in my city and was kind of suprised when the dealer told me they had none even on order for the entire year....manuals are growing very rare and for the life of me I can not understand why. If the Tacoma only had the auto as an option sadly I would go to another maker....most likely Nissan however I just traded off my 06 Frontier (also manual) and if this was the only choice I may have to abandon trucks all together....could always go with the slick 370-Z in a manual as a last resort.

This is truck #6 and the first with auto. I hate it but mostly because of the fecked up shift pattern on these trannies. I'm thinking #7 will be a stick.

I drove manual transmission trucks for over thirty years but when I got this last truck they didn't have one available in a double cab, which I'd thought I'd try so as to have more potential passenger space. To tell you the truth, now I don't think I'd go back to manual. Automatics are much better than I remember them from the early 70s, especially the 5-speed one in the Tacoma. It did take me a few weeks, however, to lose the habit of trying to clutch and shift all the time.

most likely i would have picked up an auto tacoma when i was in the market. i like a manual, but could survive with an auto.

Yuck. I would probably go with another make if they didn't. BUT, Toyota would never do that. Ever.
