I used to live near the Allegheny National Forest. 20 to 30 deer in the back yard was a nightly occurrence.

    Brand new so nothing yet.
This is Sammie, she is about a 4 year old rescue. The vet we adopted her from found her at the end of a two week stretch of -teen temperatures and with 4 plus feet of snow on the ground. She was also pregnant. She is an amazing cat. Extremely friendly and loves our dogs. She was also very mother like to the little guy below.F1873ECD-215E-4873-941A-1C8AF451B9A5.jpg

This is Landing, we found him as about an 8 week only kitten during a rain and wind storm. He was in a rock retaining wall about 10 feet from an incoming tide. Our vet said he most likely would have not made it through the night. We found him by chance when we were on the beach at the Landings marina pulling our dinghy out of the water in the pounding rain.

First picture I took of him. When we first heard him meowing we thought he was a seagull. Last place I would have ever expected to find a kitten. We looked for hours to see if there were more in case someone dumped a litter in the storm but he was the only one.

Once we got him home and clean up and dry.

I will always have a soft spot for black and white cats and desperate rescues. This is Pumpkin. My wife spotted her trying to cross a 6-lane intersection near a shopping mall on Halloween. She stopped the car in the middle of traffic and followed her “home” to a bush behind a pharmacy before calling me up for help. Pumpkin is the smallest adult cat I’ve ever seen, and we’ve had a lot of cats. She was under 4 pounds when we picked her up, and she was in really rough shape. She never got past 5 pounds even when we got her back to healthy. She was always somewhere between kitten and adult, and I loved that little kitty. She had obviously been abused before she ended up on the street. For years after we rescued her she would recoil when we would reach down to pet her as if she thought she was going to get smacked. We were so happy when she finally stopped doing that. She also had signs of previously broken ribs and one kidney that had stopped functioning and atrophied – the vet said it looked like someone had given her a hard kick in her side. Anyway, she perked up and did well for the 9 years that we had her, and she held her own against our two 12-pound boys when it came to running around and playing. She was our patio buddy in the summer, and slept with us every night until congestive heart failure took her last fall.

That’s a really cool story man. Sorry for your loss. I honestly was really sad to hear that though. Pets r so good for people and will always have a place in your heart.

We were super sad to lose her, but trust me, that cat was SPOILED! She died knowing what a full belly and warm bed felt like, and I'm sure she felt loved. We just hope she forgot the first part of her life.

Well it sounds like she was very well loved and that’s awesome. D423853A-AD50-494C-9333-D71069805782.jpg Ollie is my first cat and I honestly couldn’t live without him. He and my American Bulldog love the hell out of each other.

I know the ANF is quite large but whereabouts did you live? I live only about 20 minutes from there and have spent a lot of time towards Marienville and Tionesta.
