We have a cousin to the ground hog also. Called "rock chucks" they are fun to shoot also.

For you AR9 guys. I found a pretty good deal on a mag pouch if you're looking for one.

    eBay $25 shipped
    . Holds 8 stick mags. 2 left.

Avoid carbine length gas AR308 barrels. Absurdly overgassed.

but wouldn't an adjustable gas block fix that quite easy i mean the price allows for alot of play!

i figured for 299-399 range for the 18" i can live with that it wont be no competition but for piggies up to 200 yards max should be quite sufficient plus easier to maneuver in the blind

Yeah, but adjustable gas blocks are expensive and add complexity and also just more crap to break. i've got one on a 308 that has locked up and can't be adjusted anymore. Rifle only cycles with the suppressor on now.... Another good 308 AR item is a JP ent. enhanced extractor.

so what is exactly the problem with being over gassed im not very familiar with this! is the only negative more recoil and bounce to it? can't a heavier buffer spring and a muzzle break cancel out the effect a bit?

Heavier buffer and stronger spring only go so far. They can't delay the bolt unlocking enough. Overgassing causes cycling problems because case is still bulged from explosion while BCG begins moving back. Cases then don't eject, and the extractor rips off the rim. Mine was so violent that the bolt was pounding back into the receiver extension. If someone didn't notice or correct the issue, you could end up with a cracked lower. Plus..... 308 parts aren't all standard like the smaller AR15s. There are a bunch of different buffer sizes, spring sizes, weights. It will just save work to stick to at least mid length gas. Even in AR15s, rifle length gas is always softer and more pleasant to shoot.

Anybody use the Nordic Components Dedicated 22 upper? It looks pretty sweet and has a stainless barrel.

SLR. I paid extra for a "toolless" version which broke off after 10 rds. SLR said too bad, they don't make parts for It anymore so I converted it to Allen wrench adjuster. It fused in it's current positon and the Allen wrench adjuster is now stripped. junk.

Best upper I've found. They have a short barrel version too which I think I want if I build one.
