I would look into getting a Firestik antenna and no the antenna does not come with the mount you need

 

Agreed firestik is the way to go.

 

FireStik, 10 times over. At least if I were going to use a Child Band. Nothing really compares to them.

I run a ham handheld now, but the Firestik has no real competitor.

 

In my opinion Firesticks only real competitor seems to be Wilson. I had a Wilson 4ft whip on my old CJ7 and loved it. As for the antenna in question I don't know what to say, I never heard of the brand and no nothing about them. I have used almost every brand and style antenna out there besides that one.

 

a four foot firestick would work well. If you really want to get out far and have the best performance possible, slap a 112 inch whip on it. The antenna its self is only about 25 bucks at a local radio shop.

 

^ Very true. A full 102" whip will outperform a fiberglass whip anyday. They are a full wave length antenna rather than a top loaded whip. That is what I am running now. Not very practical but does work best.

 

Of course, you meant to type 102"!

I'll have to second you on the lack of practicality. A buddy of mine put one on his jeep a while back and damn near broke every floresent bulb at this drive through liquor joint here in town. You would have never thought it could hit the ceiling of the garage, but with a lift, tires, and 102" whip, all kinds of things are possible.

 

Not sure about that antenna? Never heard of that company before? If your looking for a fiberglass whip check out Francis. They make awesome fiberglass whips! They'll only set you back a $20 bill. I personally prefer Wilson.

 

it depends where you want to mount your antenna.. bumper = 102 whip roof top = K40 if you are going to run under 500 watts I would run a k40 if more stainless whip... also. a 102 whip is not a full wave if you use a 6 inch spring under the whip it makes that setup a 1/4 wave... full wave is 36ft. but, with any good antenna without a good SWR all antenna's will not work good
