Man, I would LOVE to be able to afford to move someplace like Gardnerville, or even Smith Valley. The pace of life is so much slower there, but until I hit either the Power ball or Mega Millions, that is just a dream.

What do you guys do? I love it in Reno and I think anywhere you move you'll be dealing with Californication. I hear the same things from people in TX, ID, AZ, etc.

I think I've seen more Texas and Arizona license plates while going back and forth to work then I've seen California plates. All these big companies moving to the reno area is drawing people in from all over the nation.

I would choose Reno out of everything to be honest. Fernley and Fallon both have nice areas and affordable homes but they also have some dead end desert folk that are a breed of their own (all of Nevada has these people and I'm not hating because I worked my tail end off to do better for myself and get out of those mobile homes.) I think Minden and Gardnerville are the better areas imho. More scenic and better to raise a family.
I like Reno the most. California has been here a long time at this point, it's a new flux for sure but I remain optimistic, things are much better than during recession and people are quick to forget that time. If California wants to send fine ladies over here I think we can make room for them personally. Just my 2 cents.

I'm in manufacturing (QA/Assembly/Eng) my wife is in logistics/transportation so it seems like there's plenty of work available in the area.

YES!!!! there has been chp with someone pulled over like everyday since. I go up and back over that stretch a lot. I live right there. I see some shit on the hill over the summer in my work truck. People try to pass me sometimes and its scary.

I can't believe no one knows about the new law that was passed (no new californians allowed to move to nevada). Seriously just kidding, please just don't try to turn NV into CA. I'm sure you'll be able to find work/living situation with a little patience.

If people from California keep moving here, I'm going to be forced to move to either Arizona or Texas.
