balancing problem

    hey guys im having a little problem with balancing tires on my truck. I bought a set of fj wheels and have a set of bridgestones on them and seems like they keep getting out of balance. What could be causing this? Only once have i had them balanced with no problems untill they rotated the tires. Then it started to shake again at about high 60's/low 70's

    i dont know what road forced balanced is. I had them balanced at my local toyota dealer. My guess is they would know what to do with them being its a trd wheel. right?

    Sounds like maybe a bent wheel. Swap the front for rears and see if it goes away. If it does, one of the wheels (likely on the rear) is bent.

    dealer road force balanced the front tires. Seems to have been the problem. I wish they would have done the rear as well so that when i rotate i dont have the same issues. THanks guys for your help

    Tacoma wheels are hub centric. If they were lug centric they would have tapered lug nuts.

    The haweka adapter is not a lug centric adapter. The haweka does not center the wheel, it simply applies force to all lugs as if it were mounted on the truck. It uses a precision cone to center the wheel from the center.

    There is a taper on the 1st gen lug nuts used on the stock alloy wheels.

    No there are not. The part that sits against the wheel is flat. These are Shank style lug nuts. Not tapered. They do not center the wheel. I believe the steal wheels may have tapered lug nuts

    I'm sure you are correct. I just looked at one and it has a very tiny taper on the end but a big 'shank' also. I've seen them referred to as a flanged type lug nut rather than a shank type. So your statement makes sense to me now.

    What doesn't make sense is that there are many, many places that state Toyota wheels are NOT hub centric and that the haweka adapter must be used to center the wheel because Toyota wheels are lug centric.

    Some of the confusion certainly comes from ordering aftermarket wheels. Aftermarket wheels to fit a 1st gen Tacoma must be "Lug Centric" or they wont fit.

    I hear ya. It is very confusing. I beleive the Haweka is used BECAUSE the wheels are hub centric. I have a TSB stating that.
