Randy - did you go through Best Buy for your remote starter install?

 

I mean for a few more hundred you can choose when you want it and you already have air so you don’t have to add that extra cost.

 

No, I went through a local remote start/audio installer that had great reviews online. I don’t think I’d trust Best Buy.

 

What you wouldn’t trust some 17 yr old kid to cut/splice into you ignition wiring harness I don’t know why

 

I’ve had a remote starter kit sitting in my tool box for close to 10 years now the wife bought it for me when I had my 01 Tacoma but I never had the balls to cut into the wiring .I should put it in my 4runner but I still don’t have the ball to cut into the wiring

 

Hell I'll take it, I cut into mine with no regerts!

 

Not sure if it would work on 2nd gen or anything new

 

I opened it up when I first got it and read directions and promptly put it away and forgot about it until a couple years ago when looking for something else

 

I should have taken pictures, but I had the local RC Willey install mine, and there were T-taps everywhere under the dash, and their "bypass" for the immobilizer system was gluing the chip from my key to the bottom of the ignition cylinder...When my truck started having problems starting, I promptly removed it all. Haven't had those problems since.

If I ever have another one installed it will be done by an automotive specialty shop.

 

I'm sorry, but that's some funny shit right there lol another reason why I just do it myself. at least T taps are easily removed and leave less of a mess once removed then a bunch of splices
